Position Overview:
In a frozen food plant, an Ammonia Operator is responsible for keeping the refrigeration systems running so that food stays frozen and safe. They act as the "guardian" of the cold chain, ensuring the plant never loses its cooling power.
Key Responsibilities:
- Checking Temperatures: Making sure freezers stay at specific setpoints (like -18°C or -40°C for IQF blast tunnels).
- Equipment Rounds: Walking through the "engine room" to check gauges on compressors, condensers, and pumps for any abnormal noises or pressures.
- Daily Logging: Writing down system data every few hours to track performance and meet safety laws like OSHA’s PSM.
- Leak Patrol: Using their senses and hand-held detectors to find even tiny ammonia leaks before they become dangerous.
- Basic Maintenance: Performing "upkeep" like draining oil from the system, cleaning filters, and defrosting coils.

Experience:
- Plant sanitation, Food technology, FMCG industry: 3 years (Preferred)
