The Site Engineer – Finishes (Interior Works) is responsible for supervising and coordinating all interior finishing activities on-site, ensuring that works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, project schedules, and safety requirements. The role involves managing subcontractors, monitoring progress, resolving technical issues, and ensuring high-quality delivery of interior fit-out and finishing works.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Supervision & Execution
- Supervise daily interior finishing activities, including:
- Gypsum partitions and ceilings
- Painting and wall finishes
- Tiling and stone works
- Flooring works (vinyl, carpet, wood, raised floors, etc.)
- Joinery and carpentry works
- Decorative finishes and fit-out installations
- Doors, ironmongery, and architectural finishes
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with MEP teams to ensure proper sequencing and integration of finishing works.
- Monitor workforce productivity and subcontractor performance.
Quality Control
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with project quality standards.
- Prepare and submit inspection requests (IRs) and coordinate with consultants/client representatives.
- Identify and rectify defects, non-conformities, and quality issues.
- Ensure completion of snagging and de-snagging activities before handover.
Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Track daily, weekly, and monthly progress against the project schedule.
- Assist in preparing work programs and recovery plans when required.
- Report progress, delays, and site issues to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate material deliveries and ensure availability of resources.
Technical Coordination
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical specifications.
- Resolve site-related technical issues and coordinate with design and engineering teams.
- Participate in site meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and clients.
- Ensure proper implementation of approved construction details.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure all finishing works are performed in accordance with site HSE requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks and promote safe working practices.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily site records, progress reports, and inspection logs.
- Monitor material usage and wastage control.
- Prepare work completion reports and handover documentation.
- Support preparation of as-built drawings and close-out documents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications related to construction or quality management are an advantage.
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in construction projects, with a strong focus on interior fit-out and finishing works.
- Experience in commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, or mixed-use developments preferred.
- Proven experience managing finishing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of interior finishing materials, methods, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing and site coordination.
- Proficiency in MS Office and construction management software.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and project scheduling tools is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
