Job Title: Senior Assistant (Assessments & Notices)

Job Purpose
To manage and oversee all activities related to assessments and notices, ensuring accuracy, compliance, timely issuance, and proper record-keeping. The person will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, issuing, and managing notices (legal/administrative), assessing claims or data, ensuring all necessary evaluations and adjudications are done per policy/law.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the end-to-end process of assessments (financial, legal, administrative, technical, etc.) relevant to our domain.
· Draft, review, issue, and follow up on notices (e.g. notices of demand, assessment notices, show cause notices, etc.), ensuring they conform with statutory/legal requirements.
· Liaise with internal stakeholders (legal, compliance, finance) to ensure notices are accurate, enforceable & aligned with organizational policy.
· Maintain and update all records/documentation related to assessments and notices.
· Ensure deadlines are met; monitor timelines for issuance, response and resolution.
· Respond to challenges / objections / appeals resulting from notices or assessments; coordinate with legal or external bodies if needed.
· Conduct periodic audits/reviews of assessment & notice procedures to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
· Stay updated with laws/regulations/policy changes that affect assessments & notices, and ensure organizational procedures are updated accordingly.
· Train / guide junior staff in best practices for assessments and notices drafting, tracking and compliance.
· Prepare reports for senior management: status of notices issued, pending assessments, responses, etc.
· Use Tally ERP / Tally Prime for relevant financial transactions, record-keeping, ledgers, vouchers, and generating reports as needed in assessments.
Requirements / Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Public Administration, Accounting, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g. Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, Legal) is a plus.
· Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in handling assessments and notices (legal/financial/admin) in a corporate / government / regulatory environment.
· Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, statutory requirements governing assessments & notices in the jurisdiction(s) concerned.
· Excellent drafting skills: ability to write clear, legally sound notices and assessment reports.
· Strong working knowledge of Tally ERP (preferably Tally Prime or latest version) to handle financial entries, vouchers, ledgers, generating reports etc.
· Strong analytical skills; ability to review data/documents and assess compliance, risk, liabilities.
· Very good attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to manage multiple cases / notices simultaneously.
· Good communication skills – both written and verbal; able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
· Ability to work with tight deadlines, prioritize tasks.
· Proficiency in using relevant software/tools (document management, tracking systems, MS Office, etc.).
