Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Documentation & Planning
- Prepare and implement:
- Quality Assurance Plan (QAP)
- Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)
- Method Statements
- Checklists and Quality Procedures
- Review vendor quality documents and material test certificates.
- Maintain QA/QC records, NCRs, CAPA reports, and quality dossiers.
2. Material Inspection
- Inspect incoming BESS equipment:
- Battery racks/modules
- Battery Management System (BMS)
- Power Conversion System (PCS)
- Transformers
- Switchgear and protection panels
- EMS/SCADA equipment
- Verify compliance with approved drawings and technical specifications.
3. Site Quality Control
- Conduct inspections during:
- Civil foundation works
- Container installation
- Cable laying and termination
- Earthing and lightning protection
- Electrical equipment erection
- Ensure workmanship meets project standards.
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for deviations.
4. Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) & Vendor Inspection
- Witness FAT for:
- Battery systems
- PCS/Inverters
- Protection relays
- Transformers and switchgear
- Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies approved by NTPC.
5. Testing & Commissioning Quality
- Verify and witness:
- Insulation Resistance (IR) tests
- Continuity tests
- Earthing resistance tests
- Protection relay testing
- Functional testing of BMS and EMS
- Charge/discharge performance tests
- SAT (Site Acceptance Test)
- Ensure all commissioning records are properly documented.
6. Compliance & Standards
Knowledge of:

IEC standards for BESS
- IS standards
- ISO 9001 Quality Management
- CEA regulations
- NTPC technical specifications
- Battery safety and fire protection requirements
- Battery Waste Management Rules and environmental compliance.
Typical Daily Activities
- Site inspections and surveillance.
- Reviewing test reports and vendor documents.
- Coordinating with construction, commissioning, and client teams.
- Preparing QA/QC reports for NTPC.
- Monitoring NCR closure and corrective actions.
- Attending client quality meetings.
Skills Required
- Electrical Engineering degree/diploma.
- Knowledge of power systems, substations, and BESS technology.
- Understanding of FAT, SAT, ITP, QAP, NCR, CAPA.
- Familiarity with battery systems, PCS, SCADA, EMS, and BMS.
- Ability to read SLDs, GA drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Good documentation and client coordination skills.
