Job Requirements
Role Summary/Purpose:
Mechanical test Engineer is responsible for mechanical component/sub system testing. He / She has to
define test requirements and equipment needed, work with engineering, suppliers on design and
development of test equipment /systems, determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted
and procedures to be followed and perform special, standard and non-standard tests.
Essential Responsibilities
- Translating the Engineering requirements into a Test requirement, development of
specifications for lab test setup, build the required test facilities and execution of the
Validations of any Automotive/locomotive/ Aircraft mechanical components or
subsystems.
- Experience in Design and development of innovative, scalable, flexible test set ups, Test
fixtures in a lab, consistent with the Validation requirements of the product.
- Experience in development of Test set up or Test Benches generating concepts, analyzing
the designed concepts, designing of fixtures for robustness/fatigue life expectancy.
- Strong understanding of Mechanical testing domain, ability to Design from fundamental
physics /Engineering fundamentals and the application , Hand Calculations & Strength of
Materials.
- Shall have good knowledge of standard process like Toll Gate, FMEA & EHS protocols followed during
the test development stages.
- Work closely with site cross functional teams of EHS, Facilities, Compliance, Import/Export, Logistics
while building a Test set up.
- Shall have good Project management & Planning skills, able to provide good Estimates for a Test
need.
- Hands on experience on vibration testing, Running Vibration systems, design & analysis of the
fixtures for the same.
- Familiarity with Industrial Automation and Controls Development.
- Experience/familiarity in a lab environment with data acquisition systems (LMS, Siemens, HBM) test
instrumentation, industrial test laboratory environments and procedures
- Experience with sensors including accelerometers, strain gages, thermocouples, load cells, and
microphones and transducers.
- Very good knowledge of GD & T , Materials & Manufacturing process with experience in
Inspection methodologies & generating/reviewing manufacturable drawings.
Work Experience
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors/Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering discipline from any institute of repute
- 3+Plus years’ experience in mechanical design, development, and validation, preferably in the field of
automotive / large bore engines/Locomotive Components/Aircraft Domains.
- Experience of Unigraphics NX tools and FEM -Analysis workbench is a added advantage.
- Excellent oral & written technical communication
- Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to
influence stakeholders, solve problems, and deliver results
- Ability to multi-task & prioritize effectively
- Team player with ability to work with minimal direction
