QUALITY MANAGER – NEEMRANA PLANT

1. JOB PURPOSE
The Quality Manager will be responsible for end-to-end quality management of the Neemrana manufacturing plant, ensuring that all products manufactured under Luggero and OEM customer programs consistently meet approved specifications, performance standards, customer requirements and quality expectations.
The role will own quality from:
Incoming Raw Material → Component Inspection → Production Process → Assembly → Final Inspection → Packing → Dispatch → Customer Feedback
The fundamental objective is:
“Prevent defects at source, ensure zero critical quality escapes and continuously reduce rejection, rework and customer complaints.”

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Incoming Material & Supplier Quality
* Establish inspection standards for all critical raw materials and components.
* Control quality of PP/PPCP/PC/ABS, masterbatch, zippers, wheels, trolleys, handles, locks, fabrics, hardware and packaging materials.
* Define sampling and acceptance criteria.
* Monitor supplier rejection and quality performance.
* Coordinate with Purchase for supplier corrective actions.
* Participate in supplier approval and supplier audits wherever required.
* Maintain supplier quality scorecards.
B. In-Process Quality Control
Establish and monitor quality checkpoints across all manufacturing processes, including:
* Shell manufacturing/moulding
* Printing
* Trimming
* Assembly
* Trolley fitting
* Wheel fitting
* Handle fitting
* Lock installation
* Zipper fitting
* Stitching and lining
* Riveting/hardware assembly
* Packing
Ensure that defects are identified and corrected before moving to the next process.
C. Final Product Quality
Ensure 100% compliance with approved product specifications through defined final inspection procedures covering:
* Dimensions
* Weight
* Colour and finish
* Surface defects
* Printing and branding
* Stitching and lining
* Trolley functionality
* Wheel functionality
* Handle operation
* Zipper operation
* Lock operation
* Structural integrity
* Packaging requirements
Maintain approved Golden Samples / Master Samples for all active SKUs.
D. Product Testing & Reliability
Develop and implement product testing standards for relevant luggage categories, including:
* Drop/impact testing
* Wheel rolling/cycle testing
* Trolley cycle testing
* Handle strength testing
* Zipper cycle testing
* Lock cycle testing
* Wheel impact testing
* Shell strength testing
* Stitching strength
* Abrasion/finish durability
Ensure test records are maintained and failures are investigated.
E. OEM & Customer-Specific Quality
Maintain customer-wise quality specifications for all OEM programs, including:
* Approved samples
* Dimensions
* Weight
* Material specifications
* Components
* Colour
* Artwork/branding
* Packaging
* Testing requirements
* AQL/customer inspection standards
* Special customer requirements
No deviation from approved specifications should be permitted without documented approval.

3. CUSTOMER COMPLAINT & CAPA MANAGEMENT
The Quality Manager will own the complete customer complaint process.
Responsibilities include:
* Analyse every customer complaint.
* Identify root cause.
* Separate manufacturing defects from transit/customer-use issues.
* Implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Prepare 8D/CAPA reports wherever applicable.
* Track closure of corrective actions.
* Monitor repeat complaints.
* Identify systemic issues from complaint trends.
Objective: Continuous reduction in customer complaints and zero repeat critical complaints.

4. REJECTION, REWORK & QUALITY COST CONTROL
Maintain daily and monthly data for:
* Incoming material rejection
* Process rejection
* Shell rejection
* Printing rejection
* Assembly rejection
* Final QC rejection
* Rework
* Scrap
* Customer rejection
* Replacement/warranty cost
Identify the Top 5 recurring defects every month and drive permanent corrective action.
The Quality Manager will be responsible for continuously reducing the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).

Develop, implement and maintain:
* SOPs
* Quality inspection standards
* Work instructions
* Incoming inspection reports
* In-process inspection reports
* Final inspection reports
* Test reports
* NCRs
* CAPA/8D reports
* Supplier quality reports
* Customer complaint records
* Calibration records
* Golden Sample records
* Quality MIS/dashboard
* Batch traceability records
Ensure proper document revision and control.

6. TEAM MANAGEMENT
* Lead and develop the complete Quality team.
* Define responsibilities by shift/process.
* Prepare quality manpower deployment.
* Conduct regular quality training.
* Maintain skill matrix.
* Conduct daily quality briefings.
* Monitor inspector performance.
* Build a culture of quality ownership across Production.
The Quality Manager must ensure that Quality is not dependent only on final inspection.

7. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Work closely with:
Planning: Production schedules, SKU priorities and quality readiness.
Production: Process control, rejection reduction and corrective actions.
Purchase: Supplier quality and incoming material issues.
R&D/Development: New product validation and first-off approvals.
Stores: Material identification, segregation and traceability.
Dispatch: Final quality release before shipment.
Sales/Customer Service: Customer complaints and corrective actions.

8. AUTHORITY
The Quality Manager will have authority to:
* Stop production in case of critical quality failure.
* Reject incoming material.
* Reject finished goods.
* Place batches on quality hold.
* Stop dispatch of non-conforming goods.
* Raise NCRs against Production/Purchase/Suppliers.
* Demand corrective action.
* Escalate repeated quality failures to Plant Head/Management.
Production targets or customer urgency shall not override critical quality requirements without management approval.

10. QUALIFICATION & SKILLS
Education
B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Plastic, Polymer, Production, Industrial Engineering or relevant discipline.
Preferred Experience
8–15 years in a quality role within a manufacturing environment, preferably involving plastic moulding, luggage, consumer products, automotive components or other high-volume manufacturing.

11. CORE SUCCESS MEASURE
The successful candidate will be expected to transform the Neemrana plant from a “defect detection” system to a “defect prevention” system, while maintaining production continuity and customer delivery commitments.
