Job Title: Ecommerce CDN & Edge Engineer – Ecommerce IT
Skills – Mandate skills: Cloudflare CDN, Cloudflare Workers (JavaScript/TypeScript), WAF & DDoS Protection, DNS & Load Balancing, HTTP Caching & Performance Optimization, Web Infrastructure & Edge Computing
Location: Remote
Experience:
3-6 years of experience in web infrastructure, CDN engineering, platform reliability, or a closely related technical discipline.
Technical Skills: Proven, hands-on Cloudflare expertise — not just awareness, but the ability to own and configure zones, Workers, WAF, and DNS independently
Working proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript; you don't need to be a full-stack dev, but you must be able to write and debug Cloudflare Workers
Solid grasp of HTTP internals: caching headers, cache-control directives, TTL strategies, TLS, and request/response lifecycle
Demonstrated ability to work across team boundaries — this role requires earning trust from Security and Networking peers, not just eComm
Strong incident response instincts: calm under pressure, systematic in diagnosis, and thorough in post-incident documentation
Preferred Skills: Cloudflare certifications (e.g., Cloudflare Certified Network Associate, Cloudflare Developer) or demonstrable depth across the full Cloudflare product suite beyond core CDN — including Workers AI, D1, Queues, Hyperdrive, Pages, R2, Stream, Images, and Turnstile.
Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tooling to manage Cloudflare configurations programmatically and at scale.
Familiarity with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) platform architecture — specifically understanding SFRA origin request patterns, session/cookie behavior, and cache-busting requirements unique to the platform.
Exposure to Cloudflare Access, ZTNA, and the broader Cloudflare One suite; understanding of how zero-trust principles apply to protecting eCommerce origin infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with bot management platforms and advanced threat mitigation beyond basic WAF rules — credential stuffing, scraper detection, account takeover prevention.
Experience with observability tooling (Datadog, Grafana, Splunk, or similar) for CDN and edge performance monitoring.
Prior experience evaluating and onboarding new Cloudflare products or beta features; comfort operating at the edge of what the platform can do.
Company Overview: Systems Plus Solutions is a leading Technology Consulting and ADM (Application Development & Maintenance) services organization committed to delivering innovative solutions to our clients. We are currently looking for a CDN & Edge Engineer to strengthen our edge infrastructure and performance strategy.
Position Overview: We are seeking an Ecommerce CDN & Edge Engineer to own and optimize the CDN and edge computing layer for high-traffic eCommerce platforms. This role is the critical bridge between eCommerce Engineering and our Security and Networking teams, ensuring that Cloudflare's capabilities are fully leveraged to maximize site performance, resilience, and security for our global customer base. You will champion best practices for edge computing, caching, routing, and Workers-based solutions, while proactively identifying opportunities to reduce latency, improve cache efficiency, and harden our eCommerce platform against threats. This is a high-visibility role for a technically deep engineer who thrives at the intersection of infrastructure, security, and digital commerce.
Key Responsibilities:
CDN Strategy & Ownership: Serve as the primary eCommerce SME for Cloudflare, owning the configuration, governance, and roadmap for our CDN and edge layer.
Define and enforce Cloudflare configuration standards across eCommerce properties, including zone settings, caching rules, page rules, and origin policies.
Evaluate and champion the adoption of Cloudflare capabilities such as Workers, R2, Images, Stream, Pages, and Turnstile in support of eCommerce use cases.
Develop and maintain documentation for all Cloudflare configurations, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Proactively identify performance and reliability improvements at the edge, translating opportunities into actionable engineering initiatives.
Engineering & Implementation: Design, develop, and deploy Cloudflare Workers and edge logic to support eCommerce-specific use cases including A/B testing, personalization routing, bot mitigation, and request manipulation.
Optimize cache hit ratios and cache purge strategies across eCommerce page types (PDP, PLP, homepage, cart) to reduce origin load and improve TTFB.
Partner with eCommerce engineering teams to review infrastructure changes that affect CDN behavior, ensuring new features and deployments are edge-ready.
Implement and tune Cloudflare WAF rules, rate limiting, and DDoS mitigation configurations in alignment with Security team requirements.
Support the integration of Cloudflare analytics and logging into internal observability tooling to enable proactive monitoring and alerting.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Operational Support: Act as the primary eCommerce liaison to the Security and Networking teams for all Cloudflare-related initiatives, changes, and incidents.
Collaborate with Security on WAF policy management, bot scoring, TLS configurations, and zero-trust initiatives at the edge.
Partner with Networking on DNS management, load balancing, failover strategies, and origin health monitoring through Cloudflare.
Lead incident response for CDN-related outages or performance degradations, conducting post-incident reviews and driving remediation.
Function as back-up or hands-on support during high-volume retail periods including Back to School, Black Friday, and December Holiday.
Availability to periodically work nights, weekends, or holidays as support issues and business needs demand, e.g., production deployments and on-call support.
