A Warehouse Driver in the automobile industry safely transports auto parts, components, and vehicles between manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and dealerships. They manage material handling, inventory tracking, and conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections.
Core Responsibilities
- Transportation: Safely drive trucks, vans, or transport vehicles to deliver and pick up automotive parts and completed vehicles on schedule.
- Loading & Unloading: Safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) to load and unload heavy auto parts.
- Inventory Control: Verify loaded merchandise against shipping manifests, update inventory records, and track deliveries using barcode scanners.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on vehicles (fluids, tires, brakes) to ensure compliance with transport regulations.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients, dealerships, or assembly line teams and obtain necessary signatures for proof of delivery.
Key Requirements
- Driver’s License: A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or standard commercial driver's permit depending on vehicle weight.
- Driving Record: A clean driving history with zero major traffic violations.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy auto parts and stand or sit for extended periods.
- Auto Knowledge: Basic understanding of automotive terminology and proper handling of delicate or hazardous (e.g., batteries, oil) automotive fluids and parts.
- Tech Skills: Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and basic warehouse management or inventory software.
