Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end quality control processes (raw material to finished goods)
- Ensure compliance with IS / IEC and customer specifications
- Oversee testing activities including HV, IR, conductor resistance, and mechanical tests
- Manage incoming material inspection (Copper, Aluminum, PVC, XLPE, etc.)
- Monitor manufacturing processes such as wire drawing, stranding, extrusion, and armouring
- Handle customer complaints and implement CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Actions)
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits (ISO 9001, customer audits)
- Maintain quality documentation, reports, and SOPs
- Lead and train quality team members (inspectors, lab technicians)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and rework
1. Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement quality policies, objectives, and roadmaps.
- Lead QA/QC teams across incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
- Drive a culture of “quality at source.”
2. Quality Assurance (QA)
- Establish and maintain QMS (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
- Ensure documentation: SOPs, control plans, work instructions.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits/certifications.
3. Quality Control (QC) & Testing
- Oversee testing of:
- Conductor resistance
- Insulation thickness & dielectric strength
- High-voltage (HV) testing
- Aging and fire resistance (FR/FRLS/LSZH)
- Ensure calibration and accuracy of lab/testing equipment.
4. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with IS, IEC, BS, ASTM, and customer-specific standards.
- Manage product certifications and approvals.
5. Supplier Quality Management
- Approve and audit vendors for copper, aluminum, PVC, XLPE, etc.
- Monitor incoming material quality and supplier performance.
6. Customer Quality & Complaint Handling
- Address customer complaints using RCA tools (5 Why, Fishbone).
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Improve customer satisfaction and reduce PPM levels.
7. Process Improvement
- Analyze defects and drive continuous improvement (Six Sigma, Lean).
- Reduce variation in extrusion, armoring, and conductor processes.
8. Team & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Train production teams on quality standards.
- Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Maintenance.
9. Cost of Quality (CoQ) Control
- Reduce internal failure, external failure, and appraisal costs.
- Optimize testing and inspection processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical / Mechanical / Materials Engineering
- 10–18 years of experience in cable or wires manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of IS / IEC / ASTM standards
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 systems
