Job Summary
We are looking for a compassionate, responsible, and skilled Staff Nurse to provide quality nursing care to patients and support their medical and personal healthcare needs.
The Staff Nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients, administering medications as prescribed, maintaining accurate patient records, assisting doctors and healthcare professionals, and ensuring that patients receive safe and professional care.
The ideal candidate should have good clinical knowledge, strong communication skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, doctors, and other healthcare team members.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Provide professional and compassionate nursing care to patients.
- Assess and monitor patients' health conditions regularly.
- Check and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate.
- Assist patients with their daily healthcare and personal care needs.
- Observe changes in patients' physical and mental condition and report concerns promptly.
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, dignity, and privacy at all times.
Medication & Treatment
- Administer medications strictly according to the doctor's prescription and established procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of medications and treatments provided.
- Assist with injections, wound care, dressing changes, catheter care, and other nursing procedures within the nurse's scope of practice.
- Follow proper infection-control and medication-safety procedures.
- Report any adverse reactions or changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Doctor & Healthcare Team Coordination
- Assist doctors and other healthcare professionals during patient care and procedures.
- Follow treatment plans and medical instructions accurately.
- Communicate important patient updates to doctors, supervisors, and the management team.
- Coordinate with caregivers, attendants, and family members when required.
- Participate in patient reviews and care-plan discussions as applicable.
Patient & Family Communication
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with patients and their families.
- Explain basic nursing procedures and care instructions clearly.
- Provide appropriate guidance to family members regarding patient care as directed by the healthcare team.
- Respond professionally to patient and family concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Record vital signs, medications, treatments, observations, and other relevant information.
- Prepare nursing reports and handover notes as required.
- Report emergencies, incidents, and significant changes in patient condition immediately.
- Maintain proper documentation according to company and healthcare standards.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow standard infection-prevention and control practices.
- Maintain proper hand hygiene and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Handle medical waste and nursing equipment safely according to applicable procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient-care environment.
- Follow emergency procedures and escalate critical situations promptly.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain professional conduct and nursing ethics at all times.
- Respect patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Follow company policies, nursing protocols, and applicable healthcare standards.
- Maintain punctuality, discipline, and professional appearance.
- Participate in training programs and continuous professional development.
- Maintain good coordination with supervisors and other staff members.
Requirements
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / ANM or relevant nursing qualification as applicable to the position.
- Valid nursing registration with the appropriate nursing council.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience preferred; freshers may be considered based on the requirement.
- Good knowledge of basic nursing procedures and patient care.
- Ability to monitor and report changes in patient condition.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-focused attitude.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a healthcare team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Tamil.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in hospital, home healthcare, elderly care, ICU, general ward, or other clinical settings.
- Experience with elderly, bedridden, post-operative, or chronic-care patients.
- Knowledge of wound care, catheter care, medication administration, and basic emergency response.
- Good patient and family counselling skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and responsibly.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
