Role Summary
The Senior Manager – Quality will be responsible for leading the overall Quality function across the organization, ensuring world-class quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. The role encompasses Supplier Quality, Incoming Quality, In-Process Quality, Finished Goods Quality, and Customer Quality while driving continuous improvement initiatives, Integrated Management Systems (IMS), BIFMA compliance, Kaizen, and operational excellence.
The incumbent will lead cross-functional quality initiatives to improve First Pass Yield (FPY), reduce rejection and rework, strengthen customer satisfaction, and establish a culture of continuous quality improvement across all manufacturing units.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality policies, procedures, systems, and standards across the organization.
- Lead and manage Supplier Quality, Incoming Quality, In-Process Quality, Finished Goods Quality, and Customer Quality functions.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001), Occupational Health & Safety (ISO 45001), and BIFMA standards.
- Act as the Management Representative (MR) for the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with all statutory, customer, and certification requirements.
- Drive First Pass Yield (FPY) improvement by reducing rejection, rework, scrap, and customer complaints through effective CAPA implementation.
- Lead root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), Pareto Analysis, and other quality improvement methodologies.
- Plan and conduct internal quality audits and coordinate external surveillance, certification, and customer audits.
- Develop supplier quality improvement programs and monitor vendor performance to minimize incoming material defects.
- Establish Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability (Cp/Cpk), and quality monitoring systems across manufacturing operations.
- Lead Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives across all Featherlite Office Systems manufacturing units.
- Monitor quality KPIs, prepare MIS reports, and present quality performance dashboards to senior management.
- Coordinate closely with Design, Production, Purchase, Engineering, Maintenance, and Stores teams to eliminate quality issues at the source.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards for office furniture products.
- Mentor, train, and develop the Quality team to build future leadership capability.
- Drive customer satisfaction by improving product quality, reducing warranty claims, and ensuring timely closure of customer complaints.
Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Diploma holders with exceptional relevant experience in furniture manufacturing may also be considered.
- Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 15–20 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control within the Furniture Manufacturing Industry.
- Mandatory experience in office furniture, modular furniture, woodworking, sheet metal fabrication, powder coating, upholstery, and assembly operations.
- Proven experience in leading large quality teams and driving organization-wide quality improvements.
- Strong exposure to customer quality, supplier quality, process quality, and system audits.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), IMS, and BIFMA standards.
- Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, CAPA, SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and 8D methodologies.
- Excellent understanding of woodworking, sheet metal fabrication, powder coating, upholstery, and furniture assembly processes.
- Expertise in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability (Cp/Cpk), and quality data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems, and quality reporting tools.

Pay: ₹1,600,000.81 - ₹1,800,000.47 per year
