The Centre for Men and Boys (CFMB) is India’s emerging field-builder for gender-just work with men and boys. We believe men’s thriving is inseparable from collective thriving — and that the systems shaping boys’ and men’s lives (education, work, digital ecosystems, health, relationships, etc.) deserve rigorous, feminist, and field-grounded attention. We work across three institutional streams — Media, Markets, and Governance — and sit at the intersection of insight building, narrative change, and institutional action.
At the Centre, communication is core to the work. We are building a new way of engaging with boys and men – one that is grounded in systems, culture, and lived realities. How we frame issues, what we choose to say, and how consistently we show up will be critical for this work to generate traction.
We are looking for a creative and entrepreneurial individual willing to take ownership over determining our narrative and communications strategy.
This role requires holding:
-
Capacity to quickly prototype and learn
-
Positioning and narrative – how the Centre shows up externally
-
Execution and consistency – ensuring we show up well, every day
What You Will Do
1. Craft the Centre’s external voice
-
Both a clarity around foundational pillars of our communications and a capacity to experiment and learn within these pillars in order to shape and refine how the Centre is positioned across platforms and audiences
-
Translate complex ideas into language that is clear, grounded, and consistent
-
Ensure coherence across all outputs — website, decks, writing, social media
2. Build and run communication systems
-
Establish the ideal rhythm across our channels (social, newsletter, web)
-
Build out the Comms function with simple systems that ensure consistency over time
-
Hold quality and clarity across outputs
3. Write and edit
-
Draft and edit across formats — short-form, long-form, op-eds, internal notes
-
Work closely with the team to sharpen thinking through writing
-
Maintain a clear, consistent voice across all communication
4. Design and drive campaigns and key moments
-
Design communication around launches, reports, and convenings
-
Anchor these in a clear narrative, not just visibility
5. Build out a strong feedback loop
-
Pay attention to what is landing and where
-
Iterate formats and approaches based on what is working
What You Will Be Accountable For
1. Generating the right inbound
-
Ensure the Centre is visible to the people and institutions we want to engage
-
Build pathways for meaningful inbound — partnerships, collaborations, conversations
-
Focus on quality of engagement, not just volume
2. Building narrative authority
This Role Is For You If You:
-
are excited to build the communications arm of a new organization driving narrative change
-
can move between strategy and execution without losing clarity
-
have strong judgment on language, tone, and positioning
-
are comfortable building from scratch and working with evolving direction
-
are willing to do the work yourself, not just manage it
-
care about how ideas travel and influence systems
You don’t need deep expertise on gender, but you should be able to engage with complexity.
How We Will Measure This Role
We will look at whether communication is leading to:
-
High-quality inbound (partnerships, collaborations, invitations)
-
Credible placements and references (media, platforms, ecosystem conversations)
-
Sustained engagement (partners, convenings, follow-on work)
Experience
-
6–8 years in communications, media, content, or related roles
-
Strong writing and editing ability
-
Experience working across formats and platforms
Location
-
India (flexible)
-
Small team, high ownership
