Reports to: Senior Manager, People Analytics
At Levi Strauss & Co., we believe great people power great brands. We're building our People Analytics function from the ground up, and we're looking for a Senior Analyst who brings real data science expertise to the table - someone equally comfortable building a Power BI dashboard or writing a Python model to answer a harder question.
This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, technically strong, and experienced with Workday data, Power BI, and Python or R. The Senior Manager, People Analytics sets the function's vision, framework, and data standards - within that, you'll bring your own expertise to how questions get answered, own your analyses end-to-end, and help the function scale faster by being a genuine analytical partner, not just an executor.
-
Independently design and run analyses — statistical modeling, predictive analytics, hypothesis testing — to answer complex employee and organizational performance and lifecycle questions, working within the standards and roadmap the Senior Manager sets.
-
Use Python or R to go beyond dashboarding where the question calls for it: building models, testing hypotheses, and generating insights that static reporting can't.
-
Partner with the Senior Manager on identifying and building GenAI and AI-assisted tools, contributing your own ideas on where AI/data science can add value, not just implementing a predefined list.
-
Bring analytical rigor to the team — pressure-test assumptions, validate findings, and know when a simpler explanation fits the data better than a complex model.
-
Create clear, intuitive data visualizations that help stakeholders quickly understand workforce trends.
-
Translate business questions into actionable insights through dashboards and analysis.
-
Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI as the primary tool.
-
Monitor and improve dashboard performance, ensuring fast load times and efficient data models.
-
Troubleshoot and resolve dashboard issues related to data accuracy, refresh failures, performance, and usability.
-
Extract, validate, and manage workforce data from enterprise systems, ensuring accurate and reliable reporting.
-
Develop a strong understanding of enterprise data structures, including core HR, talent, and organizational data.
-
Partner with HR Operations and IT to troubleshoot data discrepancies between Workday and downstream systems.
-
Support data integrity by identifying and resolving data quality issues at the source.
-
Clean, transform, and prepare data from Workday and other systems for analysis and reporting.
-
Combine datasets from multiple sources while maintaining consistency and accuracy.
-
Build and maintain data models, including more advanced statistical or predictive models, that support scalable and efficient analysis.
-
Document data sources, logic, and definitions to support transparency and repeatability.
-
Operate within the data governance framework and standards the Senior Manager establishes, and help strengthen them as the function matures.
-
Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements.
-
Validate data regularly and proactively identify risks related to data accuracy or misuse.
-
Maintain consistent definitions for key HR metrics and KPIs.
-
Partner with HR Business Partners, HR teams, and business stakeholders — including global stakeholders across regions and time zones — to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
-
Communicate data issues, insights, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
-
Help stakeholders understand how to use dashboards, interpret data, and trust the analysis behind it.
-
4+ years of experience in data analytics, people analytics, or a related field.
-
Working proficiency in Python or R, with real experience applying data science techniques (statistical modeling, predictive analytics, hypothesis testing) to real problems.
-
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard development, performance tuning, and maintenance.
-
Solid experience working with Workday data, including understanding of HR data structures and reporting.
-
Proven ability to troubleshoot data and dashboard issues, including performance and data quality challenges.
-
Experience with data security concepts such as role-based access and data privacy.
-
Strong skills in data cleaning, transformation, and data modeling.
-
Comfort operating with autonomy within a framework - you take direction on standards and priorities, but are comfortable owning how the analysis gets done.
-
Curiosity about AI-assisted analytics tools and eagerness to help build and improve them.
-
Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and reliability.
-
Ability to communicate insights clearly and work collaboratively with cross-functional and global teams.
You'll play a genuinely analytical role in powering people decisions at Levi Strauss & Co. - not just building dashboards, but bringing real data science thinking to workforce questions. You'll work directly with Workday data, Power BI, and Python/R, helping build the first wave of AI-powered tools for the function, with real ownership over how you get to the answer.
At Levi Strauss & Co., we celebrate individuality and believe diverse perspectives make us stronger. Come help us tell the story of our people through data.
