JOB DESCRIPTION – OT TECHNICIAN
Department: Operation Theatre
Reporting To: OT In-Charge / Nursing In-Charge
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain OT before and after every surgery.
- Arrange and check surgical instruments, OT equipment and consumables.
- Assist surgeons and anesthetists during surgical procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection-control practices.
- Perform instrument, swab and needle counts as per protocol.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of instruments.
- Coordinate with CSSD for sterile instrument sets.
- Assist in safe shifting and positioning of patients.
- Maintain OT registers, checklists and required documentation.
- Monitor OT stock and report shortages or damaged equipment.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
- Immediately report any equipment failure, safety issue or adverse incident.
- Follow hospital SOPs, patient-safety standards and instructions of seniors.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, confidentiality and professional conduct.
Qualification
Diploma/Certificate in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) or equivalent.
Experience: Freshers may be considered; previous OT experience, particularly in pediatric/neonatal OT, will be an added advantage.
