Job Summary:
We are seeking a Staff Nurse to promote and maintain the health, safety, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors within the school campus. The role is responsible for providing first aid and basic nursing care, managing medical records, responding to emergencies, supporting preventive healthcare initiatives, and ensuring a safe and healthy school environment aligned with the institution’s values and student well-being practices.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide first aid and basic nursing care during school hours.
· Attend to injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies promptly and efficiently.
· Monitor students with known medical conditions and provide necessary support.
· Administer prescribed medications with proper authorization and documentation.
· Observe and assess students’ health conditions and escalate concerns when required.
· Maintain accurate, updated, and confidential medical records of students and staff.
· Update immunization records, medical history, and health-related documentation.
· Prepare incident reports, treatment records, and health reports as required.
· Ensure proper documentation of medications administered and health observations.
· Support emergency response procedures and medical preparedness within the campus.
· Coordinate with parents, hospitals, ambulance services, and healthcare providers during emergencies.
· Assist in conducting emergency drills, safety programs, and first-aid awareness sessions.
· Ensure readiness and availability of emergency medical equipment and supplies.
· Promote hygiene, nutrition, sanitation, and preventive healthcare practices among students and staff.
· Support wellness initiatives, health awareness campaigns, and preventive health programs.
· Provide guidance and basic counseling on health and wellness concerns when appropriate.
· Encourage healthy habits and awareness regarding physical and emotional well-being.
· Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the school infirmary.
· Ensure adequate stock and proper maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.
· Identify and report health, hygiene, or safety risks to the management.
· Support implementation of school health and safety policies and procedures.
· Work closely with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to ensure student well-being.
· Communicate effectively with parents regarding student health concerns while maintaining confidentiality.
· Provide medical support during school events, field trips, sports activities, and extracurricular programs.
· Coordinate with external healthcare professionals when necessary.
Desired Candidates Qualifications
· Diploma or Degree in Nursing (GNM / B.Sc. Nursing) from a recognized institution.
· Valid Nursing Council Registration is mandatory.
· 1 – 3 years of relevant nursing experience preferred.
· Prior experience in schools, pediatric care, or institutional healthcare is an added advantage.
· Strong clinical knowledge and first-aid management skills.
· Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information responsibly.
· Good communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills.
· Calm, compassionate, patient, and child-friendly approach.
· Ability to respond effectively and efficiently during emergencies.
