Job purpose
As a Supplier Quality and Vendor Development Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating and managing our supplier base to ensure the quality and reliability of materials, components, and services. You will also work closely with suppliers to develop and enhance their capabilities, driving continuous improvement in the supply chain.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assess and qualify potential suppliers based on quality, capability, and reliability criteria.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality control plans and inspection processes.
- Identify and address non-conforming materials, components, or services from suppliers.
- Work closely with suppliers to improve their manufacturing processes and quality systems.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Conduct regular supplier meetings to review performance, address issues, and drive improvements.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Maintain accurate records of supplier audits, assessments, and performance data.
- Provide regular reports to management on supplier performance, quality trends, and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
· Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or production engineering.
· Proven experience in supplier quality management and vendor development within a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of machining processes, quality control methodologies, and manufacturing standards.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Effective communication and negotiation skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
· Familiarity with ISO and industry-specific quality standards.
