Job Summary
The X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic procedures while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, quality imaging, and compliance with NABH standards. The technician shall operate radiology equipment efficiently, maintain proper documentation, and assist the Radiologist in delivering accurate diagnostic services.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Verify patient identity before every investigation.
- Explain the procedure to patients and attendants.
- Position patients accurately for high-quality diagnostic imaging.
- Ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure.
- Provide special care to pediatric, geriatric, trauma, and critically ill patients.
Diagnostic Imaging
- Perform all routine X-Ray examinations as prescribed by the treating consultant.
- Operate Digital Radiography (DR/CR) systems safely and efficiently.
- Ensure proper image quality before sending images for reporting.
- Assist in portable X-Ray procedures in ICU, Emergency, OT, and wards.
- Repeat exposures only when absolutely necessary.
Radiation Safety
- Follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
- Ensure proper use of lead aprons, thyroid shields, gonad shields, and radiation barriers.
- Wear personal TLD/Radiation Monitoring Badge at all times.
- Follow Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) radiation safety guidelines.
- Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to patients, attendants, and staff.
Equipment Management
- Perform daily equipment start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of X-Ray machines.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration.
Documentation
- Maintain patient investigation records.
- Record repeat exposures and machine downtime.
- Ensure proper maintenance of X-Ray registers and digital records.
- Assist in departmental audits and NABH documentation.
Infection Prevention & Control
- Follow hand hygiene protocols.
- Clean X-Ray tables and accessories after every patient.
- Follow Biomedical Waste Management guidelines.
- Use appropriate PPE whenever required.
NABH Compliance
- Adhere to all NABH standards and hospital policies.
- Participate in departmental quality indicators.
- Report incidents and near misses promptly.
- Participate in internal audits and quality improvement activities.
Coordination
- Coordinate with Consultants, Emergency, ICU, OT, OPD, IPD, Nursing, and other departments for timely imaging services.
- Maintain professional communication with patients and hospital staff.
Qualifications
- Diploma in X-Ray Technology (DXRT) / Diploma in Radiography or
- B.Sc. in Radiography / Medical Imaging Technology.
- Valid registration with the applicable State Paramedical Council (where applicable).
Experience
- 0–2 years: Junior X-Ray Technician.
- 2+ years: Preferred for independent handling of hospital radiology services.
- Experience in NABH-accredited hospitals will be preferred.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of radiographic positioning techniques.
- Digital X-Ray (CR/DR) operation.
- Basic computer skills and PACS/RIS familiarity.
- Understanding of radiation safety protocols.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts, night duties, weekends, and emergencies.

Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts including night duties.
- On-call duties during emergencies.

Pay: ₹8,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
