Senior Executive / Asst. Manager - Export Pricing

Job Summary
The Export Pricing Executive will be responsible for preparing competitive export freight quotations, negotiating rates with shipping lines, airlines, transporters, and overseas agents, and providing pricing support to the Sales team.
The role requires strong knowledge of export trade lanes, freight forwarding operations, carrier networks, and market dynamics to maximize business conversion and profitability.
Key Responsibilities Export Pricing & Quotations
- Prepare competitive quotations for Ocean Freight (FCL/LCL) and Air Freight Export shipments.
- Respond to RFQs and spot rate requests within defined timelines.
- Obtain freight rates from carriers, NVOCCs, airlines, transport vendors, and overseas partners.
- Calculate all applicable logistics costs including freight, origin charges, transportation, documentation, and value-added services.
- Ensure profitability while maintaining market competitiveness.
Carrier & Vendor Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, airlines, consolidators, transporters, and warehouse partners.
- Negotiate contractual and spot rates to secure the best pricing for customers.
- Monitor carrier performance, transit times, and service quality.
- Maintain an updated database of carrier contracts and tariffs.
Market Intelligence & Trade Lane Development
- Monitor freight market trends, capacity changes, GRI/PSS announcements, and carrier rate movements.
- Track key export trade lanes from Chennai and South India to North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.
- Provide regular market updates to Sales and Management teams.
- Analyze competitor pricing and market conditions.
Sales Support
- Work closely with the Sales team to develop customized solutions for customers.
- Assist in preparing annual tenders, customer contracts, and strategic pricing proposals.
- Support customer meetings by providing commercial insights and market updates.
- Recommend value-added logistics solutions to improve business conversion.
Coordination & Operations Support
- Coordinate with Export Operations, Customer Service, Documentation, and Overseas Agents for accurate costing.
- Ensure all quotations align with operational capabilities and service commitments.
- Support business development initiatives by providing timely and technically sound pricing solutions.
Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain quotation records and pricing history.
- Generate MIS reports on quotation volume, conversion ratio, and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and international trade regulations.
- Support internal audits related to pricing and procurement activities.
Desired Candidate ProfileEducational Qualification
- Graduate in Commerce, Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
- Professional qualification in Freight Forwarding, Shipping, or Logistics Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
Senior Executive: 4-8 years of experience in Export Pricing, Procurement, or Commercial Freight Management.
Asst. Manager: 8-12 years of experience in Export Pricing, Procurement, or Commercial Freight Management.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Export Sea Freight (FCL/LCL) and Air Freight pricing.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, export documentation, customs processes, and international logistics.
- Familiarity with carrier contracts, trade lane analysis, and freight cost structures.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and freight forwarding software such as CargoWise or similar ERP systems.
