Qualification: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
Role: Senior Mainframe Specialist (IMS DBA & Omegamon)
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and support IMS databases in a z/OS environment, including IMS DB/DC and Data Sharing configurations
- Perform database design, performance optimization, space management, and capacity planning
- Manage backup, recovery, and reorganization activities to ensure data integrity and availability
- Monitor and troubleshoot mainframe systems using IBM Omegamon and related monitoring tools
- Analyze and resolve performance issues, conduct tuning, and optimize system response times
- Collaborate with application teams to support development, testing, and production deployments
- Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and operational runbooks
- Participate in on-call rotation for 24x7 production support of mission-critical systems
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience as an IMS DBA in enterprise mainframe environments
- Strong expertise in IMS utilities, DBD/PSB generation, and IMS recovery procedures
- Proficiency with IBM Omegamon for IMS and z/OS performance monitoring
- Working knowledge of JCL, REXX, TSO/ISPF, and COBOL application interactions
- Experience with DB2 for z/OS is a plus
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
