Job Summary
The Repair and Service Engineer Trainer is responsible for designing and delivering technical training programs for service engineers, technicians, and apprentices. The role focuses on developing technical skills in diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining electronic products and home appliances while ensuring compliance with company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct classroom and hands-on technical training for new hires and existing service engineers.
- Develop and update training materials, manuals, presentations, and practical assessment modules.
- Train engineers on troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair techniques, preventive maintenance, and product installation.
- Demonstrate the use of testing equipment, measuring instruments, and repair tools.
- Assess trainees through written tests, practical evaluations, and on-the-job observations.
- Identify skill gaps and recommend refresher training programs.
- Coordinate with the Service, Quality, and Product teams to stay updated on new products and repair procedures.
- Ensure all training sessions comply with safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain training records, attendance, certifications, and performance reports.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field service teams when required.
- Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
- Monitor post-training performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI / Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, ECE, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Trainer certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in electronic repair and service, home appliance servicing, consumer electronics, or IT hardware repair.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in technical training is preferred.
- Experience in Authorized Service Centers is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of electronic circuit troubleshooting and PCB-level repair.
- Expertise in servicing TVs, laptops, home appliances, consumer electronics, or IT hardware.
- Hands-on experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering/rework stations, and diagnostic tools.
- Good understanding of warranty processes, service documentation, and quality standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for preparing training materials and reports.
