Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer / Design Manager to lead the design and development of Industrial Door Automation Systems and Special Purpose Machines (SPMs). The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in mechanical design, product development, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and automation equipment. The role involves designing customized engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, and supporting projects from concept through manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop Industrial Door Automation Systems, including:
- High-Speed Doors
- Sectional Overhead Doors
- Sliding Doors
- Rolling Shutters
- Hangar Doors
- Fire-Rated Doors
- Dock Levelers
- Dock Shelters
- Automatic Entrance Systems
- Design and develop Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and customized industrial automation equipment.
- Prepare concept designs, 3D models, manufacturing drawings, fabrication drawings, GA drawings, assembly drawings, and detailed BOMs.
- Develop designs using SolidWorks (3D Modeling) and AutoCAD (2D Drafting).
- Perform engineering calculations including:
- Structural strength calculations
- Load and stress calculations
- Shaft, bearing, and gearbox selection
- Motor and drive selection
- Power transmission calculations
- Design and develop Hydraulic and Pneumatic Circuits and select suitable cylinders, valves, FRLs, pumps, compressors, manifolds, and actuators.
- Select mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, bearings, linear guides, ball screws, chains, sprockets, couplings, and sensors.
- Review customer specifications and prepare customized design solutions.
- Coordinate with Sales, Production, Purchase, Electrical, PLC, Quality, Installation, and Service teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct design reviews, design validation, and value engineering to improve product performance and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Resolve design-related issues during production and customer site installations.
- Prepare technical documentation, design reports, engineering change notes (ECNs), operating manuals, and maintenance manuals.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, machine safety requirements, and customer specifications.
- Lead and mentor the design team while ensuring timely completion of projects.
Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Industrial Door Automation, Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), Industrial Automation, or Material Handling Equipment.
- Experience in designing customized engineering products and automation systems.
Technical Skills
- Expert in SolidWorks (Part, Assembly, Weldments, Sheet Metal, Surface Modeling, Drawing).
- Proficient in AutoCAD (2D Drafting & Detailing).
- Strong knowledge of Hydraulic System Design and Calculations.
- Strong knowledge of Pneumatic System Design and Calculations.
- Machine design calculations and engineering analysis.
- GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- BOM preparation and engineering documentation.
- Material selection and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on knowledge of industrial standards and machine safety.
- Familiarity with ERP software and Microsoft Office.
