Shift Incharge – SMS
Department: Steel Melting Shop (Induction Furnace) | Location: SRP, Ramgarh | Reports to: Production Manager / HOD – SMS
Purpose: Run the shift end-to-end — achieving the melting and casting target at correct chemistry, controlled power consumption and full safety compliance.
Qualification: M.Sc. / B.Sc. / Diploma / B.E. – Metallurgy
Experience: 12–15 years in SMS (induction furnace) production and quality, with independent charge of a melting shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Decide and control the charge mix for each heat against the target grade.
- Control the melting cycle — power input, slag practice, deoxidation, alloy addition, tapping temperature.
- Ensure bath sampling and Lab chemistry clearance before tapping; take corrective additions on out-of-range heats.
- Supervise ladle handling, teeming and continuous casting to produce defect-free billets.
- Monitor furnace lining condition every heat and report abnormality immediately.
- Control power consumption per tonne, metallic yield and burning loss.
- Maintain heat-wise records and conduct documented shift handover.
- Enforce molten metal safety, scrap inspection and PPE discipline.
Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹61,000.00 per month
