Job Summary:
We are looking for a motivated candidate to join our Technical Services team. The candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and support of scientific and engineering software on Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, customer interaction, and willingness to learn new technologies.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and upgrade scientific software applications on Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Perform software licensing activities, including installation and configuration of standalone and network license servers.
- Diagnose and resolve installation, configuration, licensing, and operating system related technical issues.
- Provide remote and onsite technical support to customers.
- Assist customers in configuring workstations, servers, and HPC environments for software deployment.
- Verify software functionality through post-installation testing and validation.
- Maintain installation reports, technical documentation, and knowledge base articles.
- Ensure timely response and closure of customer support requests as per defined service levels.
- Support operating system installation, upgrades, user management, networking, and storage configuration.
- Assist in deployment of software on standalone systems, virtual machines, and enterprise server environments.
- Keep up to date with new software releases, operating systems, hardware platforms, and installation procedures.
- Deliver basic user orientation and installation guidance to customers after successful deployment.
- Travel to customer locations, when required, for software installation, implementation, and technical support.
Skills & Competencies:
- Good knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Basic understanding of system administration and networking concepts.
- Familiarity with Bash, PowerShell, or command-line environments.
- Understanding of software installation, licensing, and troubleshooting.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Computer Skill Set (preferred):
- Basic programming knowledge (Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, C/C++, or equivalent).
- Windows, Linux, and macOS environment.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- OS/Hardware/Networking certifications are preferred.
