Role Overview
We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and client-focused Interior Design Intern who is eager to gain hands-on experience in residential interior projects, client management, design development, and project execution.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable interacting directly with clients, understanding their requirements and preferences, and translating them into practical and aesthetically pleasing design solutions. You should be able to communicate design ideas confidently, offer thoughtful suggestions where required, and build positive, professional relationships with clients throughout the project journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact directly with clients to understand their lifestyle, requirements, preferences, budget, and design expectations.
- Understand and analyse client requirements and translate them into suitable interior design concepts and solutions.
- Provide intelligent and practical design suggestions to clients based on functionality, aesthetics, materials, space, and budget.
- Develop interior design concepts, layouts, mood boards, material palettes, and presentations.
- Assist with space planning, furniture selection, colour schemes, materials, finishes, and other design elements.
- Prepare and support 2D drawings, layouts, and basic 3D visualisations.
- Participate in client meetings, project discussions, and site visits.
- Maintain healthy and professional client engagement throughout the design and execution process.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Assist in tracking client requirements, design changes, project updates, and execution progress.
- Research new interior design trends, materials, finishes, and innovative design solutions.
- Support the team in ensuring that design concepts are effectively translated into execution.
Requirements
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D software, or similar design tools.
- Good understanding of space planning and fundamental interior design principles.
- Strong creative thinking with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to understand client needs and communicate design ideas clearly.
- Ability to provide thoughtful suggestions and confidently engage with clients.
- Strong interest in building and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Willingness to participate in client meetings and site visits.
- Ability to collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- A portfolio of academic or personal design projects is an added advantage.
- Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced startup environment.
