ABOUT MERA PAYMENT
Mera Payment is a digital platform that protects construction workers' wages and connects them to government welfare schemes. We work with labour contractors (thekedaars) and migrant construction workers — primarily from Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, and West Bengal — working in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Telangana.
ROLE OVERVIEW
You will build and run the on-ground sales team across Chennai and Bengaluru. This is a field leadership role — every day your team is at construction sites, labour nakas, and worker markets. You own subscription targets, plan daily deployment, and report directly to the founder.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
› Plan and execute daily field deployment across construction clusters, labour nakas, weekly haats, and worker colonies in Chennai and Bengaluru
› Lead a team of Sales Executives and Interns — daily briefing, route allocation, evening WhatsApp reporting
› Personally meet 5–10 thekedaars (labour contractors) per week — demo platform, convert to paid subscription
› Build zone-wise activation maps for both cities; identify highest-footfall worker zones
› Track daily subscriptions by team member and area; report to founder every evening
› Handle objections from contractors and workers — trust, data privacy, payment concerns
› Train Sales Executives on pitch, demo flow, and objection handling in Hindi and workers' regional languages
› Build and maintain WhatsApp contractor groups as a retention tool
› Coordinate with ops team on worker onboarding support — Aadhaar, bank KYC, scheme registration
› Relay ground-level product feedback to the founder and tech team
WHO WE WANT
› 3+ years field sales — microfinance, FMCG, insurance, or fintech in labour / informal markets preferred
› Hindi mandatory. Knowledge of Bhojpuri, Maithili, Bengali, Nagpuri, Awadhi or other languages from Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, or West Bengal is a strong added advantage
› Prior experience with contractors, site supervisors, or migrant worker communities — direct advantage
› Comfortable inside construction sites and open labour markets
› Ready to travel within city daily
› Strong WhatsApp communication — manages teams and reports on WhatsApp
› Works without hand-holding; takes initiative and solves field problems independently
