Fabrication Engineer — Structural Steel | Senior Level (5–7 Years)

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Fabrication Engineer with 5–7 years of hands-on expertise in structural steel fabrication. The candidate will be responsible for leading shop floor operations, driving quality and safety compliance, managing vendors and subcontractors, coordinating customer and third-party inspections, and reporting operational performance to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and review structural steel fabrication drawings, BOMs, and fabrication specifications.
- Plan and schedule fabrication activities to meet project milestones and delivery timelines.
- Supervise shop floor operations including cutting, marking, drilling, fitting, welding, and surface treatment.
- Monitor and verify material traceability, incoming material inspection and dimensional checks.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and quality teams to resolve technical issues during fabrication.
- Prepare and maintain fabrication documentation: shop drawings.
- Optimize fabrication sequences and methods to reduce rework, material waste, and cost.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior fabricators and fitters.
- Lead customer inspections, third-party audits, and quality reviews while maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Ensure effective implementation of safety policies, statutory compliance, and safe working practices throughout fabrication operations.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for quality issues, production delays, customer complaints, and NCRs.
- Review and approve fabrication procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and production methodologies.
- Coordinate with vendors for outsource activities and manage vendor performance effectively.
- Manage fabrication budgets, resource allocation, subcontractors, and vendor performance to achieve operational excellence.
- Report departmental performance, project status, risks, and improvement initiatives to senior management on a regular basis.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- 5–7 years of hands-on experience in structural steel fabrication.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural fabrication drawings and GA drawings.
- Experience with dimensional inspection tools: vernier callipers, measuring tapes, squares, angle finders.
- Hands-on experience with surface treatment processes: blasting and painting as per specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office; AutoCAD or knowledge is an advantage.
Preferred / Good to Have
- Exposure to heavy structural projects: industrial plants, refineries, power projects, or bridges.
- Knowledge of pre-engineered buildings (PEB) fabrication.
- Exposure to erection and site coordination activities.

Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year
