Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced AIX Lead to manage, support, and optimize enterprise IBM AIX environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering mission critical AIX systems, leading infrastructure operations, ensuring system availability, driving automation initiatives, and mentoring a team of administrators while supporting business critical applications.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
8+ years of AIX administration experience.
Strong troubleshooting skills in enterprise production environments.
Key Responsibilities
AIX System Administration
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM AIX servers.
Perform OS patching, TL/SP upgrades, and system hardening.
Manage LPARs, Virtual I/O Server (VIOS), and PowerVM environments.
Configure and maintain filesystems, storage, and network services.
Perform system provisioning, migration, and decommissioning activities.
Infrastructure Operations
Monitor system health, performance, and capacity utilization.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, OS, storage, and application related issues.
Ensure high availability and reliability of AIX infrastructure.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents.
Virtualization & Storage Management
Administer IBM Power Systems, PowerVM, and VIOS.
Manage SAN storage allocation and multipathing configurations.
Perform disk management, storage expansion, and performance tuning.
Coordinate with storage and backup teams for infrastructure planning.
Performance & Capacity Management
Monitor CPU, memory, filesystem, and network performance.
Analyze performance issues and implement optimization solutions.
Conduct capacity planning and resource forecasting.
Fine tune system parameters for optimal performance.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Support enterprise backup solutions such as IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), NetBackup, or Commvault.
Validate backup jobs and perform restoration testing.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and DR drills.
Ensure compliance with RTO and RPO objectives.
Security & Compliance
Implement OS hardening and security best practices.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and privilege controls.
Perform vulnerability remediation and audit support.
Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Automation & Scripting
Develop and maintain Shell/Korn Shell scripts for automation.
Automate routine operational and monitoring tasks.
Support infrastructure as code and configuration management initiatives.
Collaborate with DevOps teams where applicable.
Leadership Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of AIX administrators.
Manage incidents, changes, and problem management activities.
Review operational procedures and implement best practices.
Coordinate with application, storage, network, and database teams.
Provide technical guidance during major incidents and infrastructure projects.
