Senior Manager - Operations

Job Summary
The Senior Manager – Operations will be responsible for managing end-to-end operational activities across multiple locations within assigned sites. The role will focus on operational excellence, inventory management, warehouse and logistics performance, cost optimization, customer service, team leadership, and compliance. The Senior Manager will ensure consistent execution of business processes and achievement of operational and financial targets across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations Management

Manage day-to-day supply chain operations across multiple warehouses, distribution centers, hubs, or operational locations.

Ensure smooth movement of materials, products, and shipments from source to destination.

Drive operational efficiency, productivity, service levels, and process standardization across the cluster.

Monitor operational KPIs and take corrective action to address gaps.

Ensure adherence to defined SOPs, policies, and service standards.

Oversee warehouse operations, including inbound, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns.

Maintain inventory accuracy and optimize inventory levels across locations.

Monitor stock ageing, slow-moving and obsolete inventory, shrinkage, damages, and discrepancies.

Drive cycle counts, stock audits, reconciliation, and inventory control processes.

Ensure optimum utilization of warehouse space, manpower, and equipment.
2. Team Leadership & People Management

Lead, coach, and develop operations teams across the assigned cluster.

Define responsibilities and performance expectations for location managers and operational teams.

Monitor manpower productivity, attendance, training, and workforce utilization.

Build a performance-driven and safety-focused culture.

Conduct regular performance reviews and support succession planning.
3. Cost & Performance Management

Own the operational budget for the assigned sites and drive cost efficiency.

Identify and implement initiatives to reduce logistics, warehouse, manpower, and operational costs.

Track productivity and financial performance against budgets and targets.
-
Prepare MIS, dashboards, and management reports with actionable insights.
4. Process Improvement

Identify operational bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Drive 5S, automation, and process-standardization initiatives where applicable.

Use data and analytics to improve forecasting, capacity planning, inventory management, and operational performance.

Ensure best practices are replicated across locations.
5. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

Coordinate with Procurement, Sales, Finance, Customer Service, Planning, and other internal functions.

Manage relationships with logistics partners, transporters, warehouse vendors, and other service providers.

Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and ensure SLA compliance.

Handle customer and internal stakeholder escalations effectively.
6. Compliance, Quality & Safety

Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, contractual obligations, and industry standards.

Maintain high standards of workplace safety and warehouse security.

Conduct regular audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.

Promote quality, safety, and risk-management practices across the cluster.
Requirements
-
Education: Graduate/Postgraduate, preferably in the field of Management studies
-
Work Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in warehouse management, logistics, or 3PL
-
Competencies: Chemical handling experience is required; strong knowledge of managing warehouse operations; good communication skills

Advanced skills: Knowledge of MS Office and WMS
