Job Summary
The Senior Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sales and marketing strategies to achieve business growth, expand market presence, strengthen brand recognition, and increase revenue. The role involves leading sales teams, managing distributors, building relationships with healthcare professionals, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring achievement of organizational sales objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales Management
- Develop and implement annual and quarterly sales strategies to achieve company targets.
- Monitor sales performance and ensure timely achievement of sales goals.
- Manage and motivate Area Sales Managers, Regional Managers, and Medical Representatives.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer requirements.
- Increase market share by expanding distribution networks across assigned territories.
- Identify new business opportunities in domestic and international markets.
Marketing Responsibilities
- Develop effective product launch strategies for new pharmaceutical products.
- Plan and execute promotional campaigns for doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, distributors, and stockists.
- Coordinate marketing activities including CMEs, conferences, exhibitions, and awareness programs.
- Prepare marketing materials, promotional literature, visual aids, and digital campaigns.
- Build strong product positioning and brand awareness.
Business Development
- Appoint new distributors, stockists, C&F agents, and franchise partners.
- Develop strategic partnerships with hospitals, institutions, government agencies, and corporate clients.
- Explore export opportunities and international business expansion.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and business contracts.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate the sales force.
- Conduct regular field visits and joint working with Medical Representatives.
- Organize sales meetings and performance review sessions.
- Develop incentive programs to improve productivity.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build long-term relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), doctors, pharmacists, hospitals, and distributors.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Maintain excellent after-sales support and business relationships.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor pricing, promotional activities, and product launches.
- Collect market feedback and recommend improvements in product strategy.
- Identify new therapeutic segments and emerging market opportunities.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly sales reports, forecasts, budgets, and business plans.
- Monitor sales expenses and ensure profitability.
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulations and company policies.
- Coordinate with Production, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, and Finance departments for smooth business operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or related field.
- MBA in Marketing or Pharmaceutical Management will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales and marketing.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Experience in managing large sales teams and distributor networks.
- Exposure to domestic and/or international pharmaceutical markets is preferred.
