About the Company
We are a UK-based company operating in the Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Shipping, Warehousing and Distribution sector. We are looking for an experienced and responsible Accountant to join our finance team in our CBD Belapur office.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day accounting activities for the UK business.
- Maintain purchase and sales ledgers and ensure accurate accounting records.
- Process and verify supplier and customer invoices.
- Prepare and post accounting entries in the accounting/ERP system.
- Bank reconciliation and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Follow up on outstanding customer payments.
- Prepare customer statements and support credit control activities.
- Handle accounting related to freight forwarding, shipping, logistics and warehousing transactions.
- Review logistics-related costs, supplier invoices and customer billing.
- Assist with UK VAT return preparation and VAT accounting.
- Knowledge of UK VAT, including standard-rated, zero-rated and reverse-charge transactions, will be an advantage.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare financial reports and schedules as required.
- Coordinate with the UK management and operations team regarding accounting matters.
- Ensure accounting records are maintained accurately and on a timely basis.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with a UK-based company.
- Experience in UK Accounting and UK VAT is preferred.
- Previous experience in Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Shipping, Warehousing or Transport is highly preferred.
- Good knowledge of UK VAT returns and VAT accounting.
- Experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Candidates who have handled accounting for a UK logistics/freight forwarding company will be preferred.
Qualification
B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / equivalent accounting qualification with relevant experience.
Preferred Candidate
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in UK accounting + VAT + logistics/warehousing/shipping accounting and should be comfortable working UK business hours from our CBD Belapur office.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
