Job Summary:
The Physiotherapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing physiotherapy
treatments for women and paediatric patients. The role focuses on improving mobility,
function, and quality of life through evidence-based therapeutic interventions, especially in
areas like postnatal recovery, paediatric development, and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assessment & Treatment
Conduct detailed assessments of patients (antenatal, postnatal women, and children).
Develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans.
Provide therapy for conditions related to pregnancy, post-delivery recovery, and
paediatric disorders.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.
2. Women’s Health Physiotherapy
Provide antenatal and postnatal physiotherapy care.
Manage conditions such as:
o Pelvic floor dysfunction
o Back pain during pregnancy
o Post C-section rehabilitation
Educate mothers on posture, exercises, and recovery techniques.
3. Paediatric Physiotherapy
Assess and treat developmental delays in children.
Manage neurological, musculoskeletal, and congenital conditions.
Provide therapy for conditions like:
o Cerebral palsy
o Delayed milestones
o Orthopaedic conditions
Guide parents on home exercise programs.
4. Rehabilitation & Therapy
Use various physiotherapy techniques such as:
o Exercise therapy
o Manual therapy
o Electrotherapy
Assist in pain management and functional rehabilitation.
5. Patient & Family Education
Educate patients and caregivers about treatment plans and home care.
Demonstrate exercises and ensure proper technique.
Promote preventive care and healthy lifestyle practices.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate patient records and treatment notes.
Prepare progress reports and discharge summaries.
Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and standards.
7. Multidisciplinary Coordination
Work closely with:
o Gynaecologists
o Paediatricians
o Nurses and other healthcare professionals
Participate in case discussions and treatment planning.
8. Infection Control & Safety
Follow hospital infection control protocols.
Ensure safe use of physiotherapy equipment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy (BPT) – Mandatory
Master’s Degree (MPT) in Paediatrics / Women’s Health – Preferred
Valid license/registration with Physiotherapy Council
Experience:
1–3 years of experience in a hospital setup (preferred)
Experience in paediatric and women’s health physiotherapy is an advantage
Skills Required:
Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills
Good communication and patient handling skills
Empathy and patience, especially with children
Teamwork and coordination abilities
Documentation and reporting skills
Working Conditions:
8-hour duty with rotational shifts (if applicable)
May require handling emergency or critical cases
Standing for long periods and assisting patients physically
