Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Duty Medical Officer (DMO) with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a multi-specialty hospital. The DMO will provide comprehensive medical care to inpatients, outpatients, and emergency cases, ensuring timely clinical assessment, stabilization, treatment, and coordination with consultants and clinical departments. The role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to manage medical emergencies while ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and provide initial treatment to patients presenting to the Emergency Department, Outpatient Department (OPD), and inpatient units.
- Stabilize critically ill patients and initiate emergency management before consultant intervention.
- Coordinate with consultants for patient referrals, admissions, transfers, and treatment plans.
- Monitor admitted patients, review clinical progress, and escalate any deterioration promptly.
- Perform routine medical procedures such as IV cannulation, catheterization, suturing, wound care, ECG interpretation, arterial blood sampling, and basic life support procedures.
- Assist consultants during medical and surgical procedures when required.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient history, examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, code blue activations, and medical emergencies across the hospital.
- Interpret laboratory and radiology reports and initiate appropriate management.
- Ensure rational prescribing practices and medication safety.
- Educate patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate with nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, ICU, OT, and other departments for seamless patient care.
- Participate in infection prevention and control initiatives and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
- Ensure adherence to NABH standards, clinical protocols, patient safety guidelines, and ethical medical practices.
- Participate in clinical audits, mortality and morbidity meetings, continuing medical education (CME), and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as per hospital requirements.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS from a recognized medical college.
- Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the respective State Medical Council.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in a multi-specialty hospital.
- Experience in managing emergency and critical care cases.

- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent emergency management and resuscitation skills.
- Proficiency in interpreting ECGs, laboratory investigations, and radiological findings.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
