Job Purpose
To supervise the end-to-end manufacturing process of cosmetic products, ensuring adherence to approved formulations, safety protocols, and regulatory standards. The candidate will be responsible for technical documentation and the supervision of production staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Batch Supervision: Oversee the weighing, mixing, emulsification, and filling processes for various cosmetic products (e.g., creams, lotions, hair care, or skin care).
- Documentation & Records: Maintain "Batch Manufacturing Records" (BMR) and "Batch Packing Records" (BPR) as per statutory requirements.
- Quality Adherence: Ensure all raw materials (RM) and packing materials (PM) are sampled and approved before use in production.
- Equipment Maintenance: Supervise the cleaning and sterilization of GMP-model equipment (Vessels, Stirrers, Filling Machines) and maintain the "Log Books" for each machine.
- In-Process QC: Conduct routine checks (pH levels, viscosity, color matching) during the manufacturing process to prevent batch failures.
- Inventory Coordination: Coordinate with the store department to ensure the availability of materials for the production schedule.
- Regulatory Liaison: Assist during inspections by the Drug Inspector or external auditors (BIS/ISO).
Technical Qualifications & Skills
- Education (Mandatory): * Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) OR M.Sc. in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry OR Bachelor’s degree in Cosmetic Technology.
- Experience: 1–3 years in a cosmetic manufacturing environment. Freshers with a strong academic background in cosmetic science may be considered for junior roles.
- Statutory Status: Must be eligible for approval as a "Technical Staff" by the State Licensing Authority (FDCA).
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Schedule M-II (GMP) and BIS standards for cosmetics.
Preferred Competencies
- Strong attention to detail in record-keeping.
- Ability to lead and train a team of 5–10 production workers.
- Knowledge of stability testing and R&D for new formulations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Zero Batch Rejection: Ensuring formulations are followed precisely to avoid wastage.
- Audit Readiness: Keeping all production files updated and ready for surprise inspections.
- Production Efficiency: Meeting monthly production targets while maintaining hygiene standards.
