VMC Setter cum Operator – Roles & Responsibilities
1. Machine Setup
- Set up VMC (Vertical Machining Center) machines as per production requirements.
- Install and align fixtures, jigs, tools, and workpieces.
- Load CNC programs and verify machine settings.
2. Machine Operation
- Operate VMC machines safely and efficiently.
- Monitor machining processes and make necessary offsets/corrections.
- Ensure production targets are achieved.
3. Quality Control
- Inspect components using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
- Verify dimensions and quality as per drawings and specifications.
- Record inspection results and maintain quality documents.
4. Tool Management
- Select appropriate cutting tools for machining operations.
- Replace worn or damaged tools.
- Monitor tool life and maintain tool inventory.
5. Production Monitoring
- Track production output and report any issues.
- Minimize machine downtime and material wastage.
- Coordinate with supervisors and quality teams.
6. Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Perform daily machine checks and basic preventive maintenance.
- Maintain coolant levels and machine cleanliness.
- Follow 5S and workplace safety standards.
7. Safety Compliance
- Follow company safety procedures and use PPE.
- Report unsafe conditions and machine abnormalities immediately.
- Ensure compliance with all shop-floor safety regulations.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of CNC/VMC machine operation and setup.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments and quality inspection.
- Basic understanding of CNC programming and offsets.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
