Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Show Producer Cum Anchor with 4–6 years of experience in television/news media, preferably with strong exposure to Political News and Current Affairs.
The ideal candidate should have excellent political knowledge, strong political contacts, news judgment, communication skills, and anchoring abilities. The candidate will be responsible for developing show concepts, coordinating with the editorial team, researching political stories, preparing content, and confidently anchoring news programmes and political discussions.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and anchor political news programmes, debates, discussions, interviews, and special shows.
- Develop daily show ideas, programme formats, story angles, and discussion topics based on current political developments.
- Maintain and effectively utilize strong political contacts and sources across political parties, government departments, public representatives, and political organizations.
- Monitor political developments, breaking news, press conferences, government announcements, and major political events.
- Conduct in-depth research and fact-checking before preparing show content.
- Prepare scripts, questions, discussion points, headlines, introductions, and interview briefs.
- Identify relevant political personalities, analysts, spokespersons, and experts for debates and interviews.
- Coordinate with reporters, assignment editors, video editors, graphics teams, and other newsroom personnel for smooth execution of shows.
- Conduct live and recorded interviews with politicians, political analysts, experts, and public figures.
- Handle live breaking-news situations and make quick editorial decisions when required.
- Anchor programmes confidently with clear pronunciation, strong presentation skills, and professional on-camera presence.
- Ensure political content is accurate, balanced, relevant, and presented in accordance with editorial standards.
- Coordinate with the production team regarding rundown, visuals, graphics, video packages, tickers, and live inputs.
- Follow major political developments at State and National levels.
- Build and maintain a reliable network of political sources and contacts.
- Work closely with the Editorial Head / Chief News Editor and follow editorial directions.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Indian politics and Tamil Nadu politics.
- Excellent understanding of political parties, leaders, government policies, elections, and current affairs.
- Strong political contacts and source network will be highly preferred.
- Excellent Tamil communication and presentation skills.
- Strong English communication and comprehension skills.
- Excellent interviewing, questioning, and debating skills.
- Strong news sense and editorial judgment.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and newsroom pressure.
- Good script writing and content development skills.
- Strong live anchoring and presentation abilities.
- Ability to handle breaking news and rapidly changing situations.
- Good coordination and team-management skills.
- Familiarity with television newsroom workflows, PCR/MCR coordination, rundown preparation, graphics, and video packages.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Political Science, or a related field.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in television news, digital news, political journalism, show production, or anchoring.

- Proven experience in producing and anchoring political programmes.
- Strong network of political contacts and reliable news sources.
