OT Technician / Operation Theatre Technician

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and responsible OT Technician to support surgeons, anaesthetists, and nursing staff in the smooth and safe functioning of the Operation Theatre. The candidate will be responsible for OT preparation, surgical assistance, sterilization, equipment handling, and maintaining OT safety and infection-control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the OT, instruments, equipment, consumables, and surgical sets before every procedure.
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of OT equipment.
- Prepare and check surgical instruments and OT sets.
- Assist with patient positioning, surgical preparation, and transfer.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection-control practices.
- Perform and document instrument, swab, and needle counts as per hospital protocol.
- Handle surgical specimens appropriately and ensure proper labelling and dispatch.
- Assist in cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and proper storage of instruments.
- Coordinate with CSSD, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and other departments.
- Check OT stock and raise timely indent requests for consumables and instruments.
- Maintain OT registers, procedure records, equipment logs, and sterilization records.
- Check emergency equipment, oxygen supply, suction, cautery, lights, tables, and other OT equipment before procedures.
- Ensure OT is properly prepared and reset between surgeries.
- Follow biomedical waste management and infection-control protocols.
- Report equipment malfunction, stock shortages, incidents, or safety concerns immediately.
- Support emergency surgeries and be available for on-call duties as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow hospital SOPs and NABH standards.
OT Documentation & Reporting
The technician will be responsible for maintaining:
- Daily OT list
- OT procedure register
- Instrument and equipment checklist
- Surgical safety checklist
- Instrument/swab/needle count records
- Sterilization/CSSD coordination records
- OT consumable stock register
- Implant/consumable usage records
- Specimen dispatch records
- OT cleaning checklist
- Equipment maintenance log
- Incident/near-miss reporting
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in multi-speciality hospitals, emergency OT, laparoscopic surgery, orthopaedics, urology, neurosurgery, ENT, ophthalmology, and general surgery will be preferred.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
