About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and competent IGCSE Chemistry Teacher who can create an engaging, concept-driven learning environment and help students develop strong conceptual understanding, scientific thinking, and practical laboratory skills.
The ideal candidate should be well-versed with the Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry curriculum and capable of delivering lessons that go beyond textbook learning through experimentation, inquiry, application, and real-world connections.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver effective IGCSE Chemistry lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum.
- Develop students' conceptual understanding of Chemistry through inquiry-based and application-oriented teaching.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning abilities and styles.
- Connect Chemistry concepts with real-life applications, current scientific developments, and interdisciplinary learning.
- Encourage students to ask questions, analyse information, and develop scientific reasoning.
2. Practical & Laboratory Learning
- Plan and conduct Chemistry practicals in accordance with the IGCSE curriculum.
- Ensure students develop appropriate practical, observational, analytical, and experimental skills.
- Maintain proper laboratory discipline and follow all safety protocols.
- Guide students in recording observations, analysing results, identifying errors, and drawing scientific conclusions.
- Coordinate with the laboratory assistant for preparation and management of practical activities.
3. Assessment & Academic Progress
- Prepare worksheets, assignments, quizzes, tests, and examination papers.
- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments.
- Analyse student performance and identify learning gaps.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Prepare students effectively for Cambridge IGCSE examinations, including structured questions, MCQs, practical-based questions, and application-based problems.
- Maintain accurate records of student academic progress.
4. Classroom Management
- Establish a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment.
- Build meaningful relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Address behavioural and academic concerns proactively.
- Encourage students to take ownership of their learning.
5. Academic Planning & Collaboration
- Participate in departmental planning, curriculum development, and academic review meetings.
- Collaborate with other Science teachers to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery.
- Contribute to the development of lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching resources, and practical plans.
- Participate in school events, academic activities, projects, exhibitions, and science-related initiatives.
- Contribute to school-level academic and professional development initiatives.
6. Parent & Student Communication
- Communicate students' academic progress and areas for improvement to parents when required.
- Attend parent-teacher meetings and provide meaningful academic feedback.
- Support students with academic guidance and examination preparation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred/required as applicable.
- Prior experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry curriculum and assessment structure.
- Relevant school-teaching experience, preferably in an international/Cambridge school.

Experience
Preferred: 1–3 years of teaching experience, with experience in IGCSE/Cambridge Chemistry preferred.
Candidates with strong Chemistry subject knowledge and relevant international-school teaching exposure may also be considered based on their overall suitability.
