SMART SURGICAL is a healthcare-focused company operating in the medical device and orthopaedic implant segment, with a focus on the supply and distribution of knee and hip implants, surgical instruments, and related medical products.
We are looking for a highly capable, commercially astute, and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who can take ownership of the company’s financial function and play a critical role in strengthening financial controls, improving profitability, managing working capital, and supporting strategic business growth.
The Role:
The CFO will be responsible for leading the financial management of the organization, ensuring financial discipline, accuracy, regulatory compliance, effective cash-flow management, and informed decision-making.
This is a hands-on leadership position for a finance professional who can move beyond routine accounting and actively contribute to the company’s financial strategy, operational efficiency, risk management, and long-term growth.
The ideal candidate will combine strong financial expertise with commercial understanding, analytical thinking, business judgment, and ownership.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership & Business Strategy
- Take end-to-end ownership of the company’s finance function.
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives.
- Provide senior management with accurate, actionable, and timely financial insights for critical business decisions.
- Evaluate financial performance, identify trends, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Drive financial discipline, accountability, and transparency across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and financial performance.
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, business plans, and cash-flow projections.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide detailed variance analysis.
- Develop financial models and projections to support business expansion and investment decisions.
- Establish appropriate financial KPIs and monitor performance against targets.
- Identify cost overruns and implement effective cost-control and optimization measures.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Take ownership of cash-flow planning, liquidity management, and working capital.
- Monitor receivables, payables, outstanding collections, and payment obligations.
- Strengthen collection processes and improve the company’s cash-conversion cycle.
- Ensure optimum utilization of financial resources.
- Anticipate cash-flow requirements and proactively address potential liquidity risks.
Accounting & Financial Controls
- Oversee the company’s complete accounting and financial reporting operations.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of books of accounts, ledgers, journals, invoices, and financial records.
- Oversee bank, customer, and vendor reconciliations.
- Establish robust internal financial controls, approval mechanisms, and reporting systems.
- Identify discrepancies, control weaknesses, financial leakages, and potential areas of risk.
- Ensure timely closure of monthly and annual financial accounts.
MIS & Management Reporting
- Develop and present MIS, financial dashboards, management reports, and performance analysis.
- Provide management with clear visibility into revenue, expenses, margins, profitability, working capital, and cash position.
- Translate financial data into business insights and actionable recommendations.
- Monitor financial and operational KPIs and highlight deviations requiring management attention.
Taxation, Compliance & Audit
- Oversee statutory and regulatory financial compliance.
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, tax consultants, financial advisors, banks, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Lead audit processes and ensure timely resolution of audit observations.
- Maintain complete and accurate financial documentation and records.
Inventory, Procurement & Cost Management
- Strengthen financial controls around inventory, procurement, and product costing.
- Monitor inventory valuation, stock movement, ageing, and financial impact.
- Ensure appropriate reconciliation between physical stock and financial records.
- Analyse procurement costs, product margins, and inventory carrying costs.
- Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenditure and improve inventory efficiency.
Medical Device / Orthopaedic Industry Experience – Preferred
Given the nature of our business, prior experience or strong working knowledge of the medical device, orthopaedic implant, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or allied industry will be strongly preferred.
Candidates with familiarity with the financial and commercial aspects of:
- Knee and hip implants
- Orthopaedic medical devices
- Surgical instruments
- Medical consumables
- Hospital and healthcare supply chains
- Medical-device inventory management
- Procurement and product costing
- Vendor and distributor management
- Hospital/customer receivables and collections
- Stock movement, reconciliation, and inventory controls
will have a distinct advantage.

Educational & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- CA preferred.
- CMA, M.Com, MBA (Finance), or equivalent professional qualification will be an advantage.
- 3–4 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Candidates with exceptional educational qualifications, strong financial aptitude, and relevant industry knowledge may also be considered.
