Designation: Aerostat Hardware Engineer

Position Summary
Responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of the aerostat's avionics bay and payload electronics, including the camera gimbal and the communication link between the aerostat and the ground control station (GCS), ensuring reliable data, video, and telemetry connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, and maintain avionics bay electronics — power distribution, control units, wiring harnesses, connectors
- Maintain and calibrate the camera gimbal system, including stabilization, tracking, and video output quality
- Maintain the air-to-ground communication system (RF/wireless links, antennas, transceivers) ensuring stable telemetry, video, and data connectivity between aerostat and GCS
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in payload electronics, sensors, and communication links
- Perform bench testing, firmware updates, and functional checks on payload/avionics components before flight
- Coordinate with ground control station operators to verify uplink/downlink signal integrity
- Maintain maintenance logs, calibration records, and fault reports
- Follow safety protocols during installation, testing, and troubleshooting
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Electronics, Avionics, or Communication Engineering
- 2+ years hands-on experience with avionics, payload electronics, or RF/communication systems
- Working knowledge of gimbal/camera systems, RF communication links, and telemetry systems
- Ability to read circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical manuals
Preferred
- Prior experience with UAS/aerostat payload or avionics systems
- Familiarity with ground control station (GCS) software and signal troubleshooting
