Head of Supply Chain

Our goal is to build a predictable, scalable, and low-wastage farmer-to-family supply chain.
Role Objective
We are hiring a Head of Supply Chain to own and optimize the entire farm-to-market/family supply chain, including procurement planning, aggregation, logistics, and distribution.
This is a business-critical role responsible for supply stability, cost efficiency, and wastage control.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supply Planning & Procurement Control
Define what to procure, how much, from where, and when
Work closely with procurement team to ensure demand-driven sourcing
Build structured buyback planning models
2. Farmer Network Strategy (Through Procurement Team)
Design farmer sourcing strategy (direct + FPOs)
Improve farmer retention and consistency of supply
Create pricing and incentive mechanisms for buyback
3. Aggregation & Primary Processing
Set up and optimize collection centers, grading, and sorting systems
Ensure quality control at source
Minimize delays in aggregation
Aggregation & Sorting Operations
4. Logistics & Distribution (NCR)
Design efficient farm → hub → market movement
Optimize transportation cost and delivery timelines
Manage transport vendors / fleet operations
Perishable Logistics Execution
5. Demand-Supply Alignment
Align procurement with real-time NCR demand
Maintain high fill rate while avoiding overstock
Build basic forecasting and planning systems
6. Cost & Unit Economics Ownership
Track and optimize:
Cost per kg
Logistics cost
Wastage losses
Improve margins through operational efficiency
7. Systems & Team Leadership
Build SOPs for repeatable operations
Lead supply chain, warehouse, and coordination teams
Bring structure to ground-level operations
Key Success Metrics (KPIs)
Wastage: <5%
Fill Rate: >90%
Delivery TAT: 24–36 hrs
Cost per kg reduction: 15–25%
Farmer supply consistency: High repeat rate
Ideal Candidate Profile
Must-Have
8–15+ years in agri / FMCG / perishable supply chain
Experience in procurement planning + logistics execution
Strong understanding of farmer ecosystems / mandis
Proven ability to scale operations from ground level
