We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to join our Cold Rolling Mill Operations team in the role of Shift Incharge – Operations (20 Hi CRD).
Job Purpose: To lead and manage shift operations of the 20 Hi Cold Rolling Mill, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality-driven production of stainless steel flat products while achieving production targets and minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Shift Operations Management:
- Lead end-to-end shift operations of 20 Hi Cold Rolling Mill
- Ensure adherence to daily production targets and rolling schedules
- Monitor mill parameters (thickness, flatness, surface finish)
Process Control & Optimization:
- Ensure proper setup and operation of 20 Hi mill (AGC, AFC, tension control systems)
- Optimize rolling parameters for productivity, yield, and quality
- Troubleshoot rolling defects (edge cracks, chatter marks, gauge variation, etc.)
Team Leadership:
- Supervise operators, technicians, and support staff during the shift
- Ensure proper manpower allocation and skill utilization
- Drive team discipline, motivation, and performance
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure product meets customer specifications and internal quality standards
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections and corrective actions
Maintenance Coordination:
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for breakdown resolution
- Support preventive maintenance activities to reduce downtime
- Ensure proper upkeep of rolls, bearings, and mill components
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce safety standards and safe operating practices
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure compliance with EHS norms
- Report and investigate incidents or near-misses
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain shift reports, production logs, and downtime analysis
- Track KPIs such as productivity, yield, rejection, and efficiency
Qualifications & Experience:
- B.Tech / B.E / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- 2–5 years of experience in Cold Rolling Mill operations, specifically in Cold Rolling Mills
- Hands-on experience in rolling of Steel flat products
- Strong knowledge of rolling mill processes, roll grinding, and lubrication systems
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical expertise in Cold Rolling Mill operations
- Knowledge of AGC (Automatic Gauge Control) & AFC (Automatic Flatness Control)
- Problem-solving skills for rolling defects and process issues
- Leadership and team management abilities
- Understanding of safety, quality, and production systems
- Ability to work in rotational shifts
