Job Summary
An ITI Turner is responsible for operating and maintaining lathe machines to manufacture precision metal components according to drawings and specifications. The role involves machining, shaping, cutting, threading, and finishing metal parts while ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate lathe machines (manual and semi-automatic) to produce metal components
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job cards
- Perform turning, facing, taper turning, threading, drilling, knurling, and boring operations
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials
- Measure and inspect components using vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
- Maintain machine accuracy through tool setting and alignment
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and lubrication
- Identify and correct machining defects
- Follow workplace safety rules and quality standards
- Maintain proper records of work completed
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of lathe machine operations
- Ability to work with ferrous and non-ferrous metals
- Basic understanding of tolerances and fits
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Knowledge of workshop safety practices
- Basic mathematical and measurement skills
Educational Qualification
- ITI Certificate in Turner Trade (NCVT/SCVT recognized)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
