About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust automated test suites using JavaScript and Playwright. The ideal candidate has strong experience with the Page Object Model (POM), cross-browser and API test automation, and a proven ability to distinguish genuine application defects from script issues while keeping the test suite stable and low-maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Core Technical Skill
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using JavaScript/TypeScript and Playwright, following the Page Object Model (POM) design pattern
- Build and execute UI automation, regression, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end (E2E) test suites
- Implement cross-browser automated testing across Chrome, Firefox, Safari/WebKit, and Edge
- Develop API automation tests including request/response validation, status codes, and payload assertions
- Design robust assertions, manage test data, and implement proper error handling across test scripts
Work & Code Quality (Automation)
- Write clean, reusable, modular, and maintainable automation code following coding standards
- Implement proper waits (explicit/implicit), synchronization, and stable locator strategies to minimize flaky tests
- Manage test data and environment/configuration files across test environments (dev, QA, staging, prod)
- Continuously refactor and optimize the automation framework for scalability and reliability
Debugging & Problem Solving
- Analyze test failures and accurately distinguish application defects from automation script issues
- Perform root-cause analysis on locator failures, API errors, synchronization/timing issues, and assertion failures
- Investigate and resolve flaky tests to improve suite stability and trust in automation results
- Log clear, well-documented defects with reproduction steps, logs, and screenshots/videos
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with developers, DevOps engineers, product managers, and fellow QA engineers
- Participate in requirement discussions, sprint planning, code reviews, defect triage, and release activities
- Communicate test coverage, automation progress, and quality risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate on defining acceptance criteria and testability of features early in the development cycle
Tools & Process
- Build and maintain automation frameworks (Playwright-based, POM architecture)
- Manage source code using Git/GitLab, following branching strategies and pull/merge request workflows
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Use API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, or similar) for functional and contract testing
- Utilize test management tools (Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar) for test case and defect tracking
- Generate and maintain HTML/Allure test execution reports for stakeholders
Required Skills & Qualifications

- Solid understanding of the Page Object Model (POM) and automation framework design
- Experience with UI, regression, smoke, sanity, E2E, and cross-browser testing
- Experience with API automation and tools like Postman or REST Assured
- Proficiency with Git/GitLab and collaborative version control workflows
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Strong analytical, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Good to Have
- Experience with other automation tools (Selenium, Cypress)
- Knowledge of performance/load testing tools (JMeter, k6)
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Basic understanding of Docker/containerized test environments
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification
