Senior Account Manager
Role Purpose
The Accounts Manager is responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate books of accounts, timely payments and collections, proper cash management, statutory compliance, and reliable financial reporting to management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Accounting Operations
- Supervise day-to-day accounting entries and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
- Review purchase, sales, expense, receipt and payment entries.
- Monitor bank transactions, cash transactions and petty cash.
- Ensure proper documentation and supporting bills for every transaction.
- Review and reconcile outstanding advances, employee expenses and vendor balances.
2. Bank & Cash Management
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Monitor cash balances and cash requirements.
- Maintain control over petty cash and company floats.
- Identify unusual transactions, excess cash withdrawals or unexplained variances.
- Ensure cash is deposited and accounted for on time.
3. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Monitor vendor outstanding payments and payment schedules.
- Track customer/party receivables and overdue amounts.
- Follow up with relevant departments for pending collections.
- Verify invoices before processing payments.
- Maintain accurate ageing reports for payables and receivables.
4. Payroll & Employee Accounts
- Coordinate monthly payroll processing.
- Verify attendance, salary changes, deductions, advances and reimbursements.
- Maintain records of employee loans and advances.
- Ensure salary-related accounting entries are accurate and timely.
5. Statutory Compliance
- Coordinate timely GST, TDS and other applicable statutory filings.
- Ensure tax deductions and payments are properly recorded.
- Coordinate with auditors, consultants and statutory authorities when required.
- Maintain proper documentation for statutory compliance and audits.
6. Month-End Closing & Reporting
- Complete monthly closing of accounts within the defined timeline.
- Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow information.
- Prepare receivable/payable ageing reports.
- Identify unusual expenses, variances and accounting discrepancies.
- Provide management with accurate financial information for decision-making.
7. Internal Controls
- Establish and enforce proper approval procedures for expenses and payments.
- Ensure segregation of duties wherever possible.
- Regularly review accounting processes for leakages, errors and misuse.
- Investigate discrepancies and report significant issues to management.
- Maintain proper audit trails for financial transactions.
8. Team Management
- Supervise accountants and accounts assistants.
- Allocate daily and monthly accounting tasks.
- Review the team's work for accuracy and completeness.
- Train team members on accounting procedures and company SOPs.
- Ensure deadlines are met without requiring constant management intervention.

Authority & Accountability
The Accounts Manager is accountable for the accuracy, timeliness and control of the company's accounting operations. Any suspected financial irregularity, unexplained variance, fraud, duplicate payment or major compliance risk must be escalated to management immediately.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 4–8 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and statutory compliance.
- Experience with Tally/ERP/accounting software and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage an accounts team and enforce financial controls.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
