DESCRIPTION:
Contribute to innovations that make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you'll work on sophisticated scientific instruments and laboratory equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize mechanical systems and components. Drive product innovation while ensuring manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with quality standards. You'll have opportunities to work on challenging technical problems, from concept through production, utilizing advanced CAD tools and engineering principles to deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
Position Summary :
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join diverse teams of developers to participate in the specification, design, testing, maintenance, and implementation of design changes for analytical instruments and allied products. This engineering changes on instruments make a real, positive, and strong impact on the lives of people across the globe.
As part of the R&D team, we collaborate with global multi-functional teams (electrical, mechanical, user experience, manufacturing, quality, sourcing) during all phases of the new product development (NPD) process to design innovative, high quality, reliable products, that meet customer requirements and time to market commitments within target costs.

Develop specifications for system-level, subsystem and component performance based on customer needs and product requirements.

Develop the optimal design through Computer Aided Design (CAD), Tradeoff Analysis, Technology Assessment, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Define and specify new designs and drive them towards successful outcomes.

Maintain approved manufacturers lists (AML) in ERP system.

Complete Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) at the direction of senior engineering staff.

Partner with the operations team to provide design for manufacturability (DFM) input on equipment designs. through the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.

Work with Regulatory Affairs team members to design products that meet and acquire the required global product approvals and certifications such as, FDA, UL, CE, CSA, NSF, and Energy Star

Identify and implement design changes that improve user experience, quality, manufacturability, serviceability and sustainability of chormotography products.

BE in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering or related engineering degree from an accredited higher learning institution.

8+ years experience in the design, selection, and evaluation of mechanical systems and components

Proficient with engineering tools and CAD (SolidWorks or Creo preferred), PLM software
-
Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use as well as medical device requirements through standards similar to UL61010, ISO13485, & ISO14971, FDA, CE, CSA, NSF456, Energy Star.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

High levels of self-discipline, drive, and a proven ability to coordinate personnel in the implementation of design changes

Strong analytical skills, data interpretation and root cause analysis experience

Project management experience

Strong Sense of ownership in projects and work assignments with persistence to overcome project obstacles and drive work to completion.
