Job Description:
- Develops complex application code that meets defined requirements.
- May lead a small team of less experienced staff.
- Supervises the building of deployment packages, deploys moderately complex to complex software packages, supervises use of issue tracking software, source code control, and other supporting activities related to application development projects.
- Directs others in the development of hardware and software specifications.
- Contributes to the development of proposals and participates in interviews with guidance from senior management team.
- May lead small, less complex proposal efforts.
- Contributes to follow- on work through role on projects and client interactions.
- Performs end user interviews to determine application requirements.
- Documents end user business processes or develops use cases related to applications.
- Develops functional specifications for moderately complex to highly complex applications, as required.
- Develops documentation for applications and trains the less experienced staff and clients to use the applications.
- Conducts end user interviews to determine application requirements for complex development efforts.
- Documents end user business processes or develops use cases related to applications.
- Develops functional specifications for applications.
- Modifies database tables, fields, etc., and makes database design decisions of moderate to high complexity.
- Oversees the work of less experienced staff on projects and provides mentoring.
- Handles higher level requests personally, and/or ships to other production centers.
- Contributes monthly to workloads process.
- Performs other duties as required.
Skills & Abilities: Excellent problem solving and research skills. Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills for working with team members, users, and external stakeholders. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of core computer science topics, such as: Object and/or Function Oriented Design; advanced data structures and algorithms; relational database design; and W3C standards. Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visual Studio or equivalent IDE. Demonstrated proficiency in SQL variants. Demonstrated proficiency in at least one of the following: C/C++, C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript & HTML. Demonstrated proficiency in enterprise databases, such as SQL Server or Oracle. Knowledge and integration of design patters, application modeling (UML, flow diagrams, wireframes, etc.), QA practices and tools (unit testing, issue tracking, source code control, continuous integration), automated configuration management, and GIS concepts. Possesses excellent attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree; 6 years of relevant experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Amount of Travel Required: No Travel is required Background Check and Drug Testing Information: CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States. The timing of when background checks will be conducted on candidates for positions outside the United States will vary based on country statutory law but in no case, will the background check precede an interview. CDM Smith will conduct interviews of qualified individuals prior to requesting a criminal background check, and no job application submitted prior to such interview shall inquire into an applicant's criminal history. If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.
