Job Summary
The General Manager – Solar Operations & Projects will be responsible for the overall management of solar power plants, including plant operations, maintenance, manpower management, statutory compliance, financial control, and development of new solar projects. The role also includes coordination with wind and hydro assets to ensure efficient renewable energy operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Renewable Energy Asset Management
- Oversee the operation and performance of Solar, Wind, and Hydro power assets.
- Monitor plant generation, efficiency, and availability.
- Ensure maximum energy yield and operational excellence.
2. Solar Plant Operations & Maintenance
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Improve plant reliability and reduce downtime.
- Monitor equipment performance and implement performance improvement initiatives.
3. Plant Management
- Ensure smooth day-to-day plant operations.
- Prepare operational reports, MIS, and performance dashboards.
- Manage plant budgets and optimize operational costs.
4. Manpower Management
- Lead and manage plant teams, contractors, and service providers.
- Plan workforce requirements and allocate resources effectively.
- Conduct performance reviews, training, and employee development programs.
- Foster a strong culture of safety and operational discipline.
5. Financial & Accounting Management
- Monitor plant operating expenses and budgets.
- Coordinate with the finance team for budgeting, cost control, invoicing, and financial reporting.
- Ensure cost optimization without compromising plant performance.
6. New Plant Development
- Support planning, execution, commissioning, and handover of new solar power projects.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure projects are completed within budget, quality, and timeline.
7. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, electrical, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.
- Maintain all operational licenses, permits, and documentation.
8. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Implement and monitor HSE policies across all project sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and conduct regular safety audits.
- Promote a zero-incident safety culture.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
- MBA (Operations/Project Management) preferred.
- Additional certifications in Renewable Energy or Project Management are an advantage.
Experience
- 15–20 years of experience in Renewable Energy, with significant exposure to Solar Power Plant Operations.
- Experience in Wind and Hydro asset management is preferred.
- Proven leadership experience in large-scale utility or C&I solar projects.
