We are looking for a Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership across multiple product teams developing cloud-native applications on the Microsoft technology stack. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for driving engineering excellence, solving complex technical challenges, defining engineering standards, and mentoring senior engineers. Working closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, Engineering Managers, and development teams, you will play a key role in shaping technical direction and ensuring delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions.
Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams.
Drive engineering excellence through modern software development practices.
Lead technical decision-making for complex business and engineering challenges.
Establish engineering standards, coding guidelines, and development best practices.
Mentor senior engineers and technical leads to strengthen technical capability across the organisation.
Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Design scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions.
Partner with Solution Architects to define application and integration architectures.
Review solution designs to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns.
Identify opportunities to improve scalability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
Provide technical expertise in:
C#, .NET 6/8, and ASP.NET Core
RESTful APIs, ReactJS, TypeScript, and JavaScript
Microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and messaging patterns
Remain actively involved in software design, code reviews, and implementation of critical components.
Lead the design and implementation of cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure, including:
Azure App Service, AKS, and Azure Functions
Azure API Management, Service Bus, and Event Grid
Azure Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Cosmos DB
Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights
Ensure cloud solutions are secure, resilient, observable, and cost optimised.
Champion engineering best practices including:
Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, and design patterns
Domain-Driven Design (DDD), secure coding practices, and TDD
Automated testing, code reviews, and performance optimisation
Technical documentation
Drive adoption of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
Promote Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps practices.
Improve application observability through logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting.
Partner with Platform Engineering teams to improve developer productivity.
Analyse and optimise application performance.
Resolve complex production issues and architectural bottlenecks.
Improve scalability, availability, and disaster recovery capabilities.
Reduce technical debt through modernization initiatives.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
Drive proof-of-concepts and technical innovation initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
Contribute to long-term technology strategy and platform evolution.
Champion and set team-wide standards for AI-assisted development tools including GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT.
Use AI tools for code generation, debugging, test automation, and complex problem decomposition.
Evaluate new AI tooling for engineering workflow adoption and recommend best-fit solutions across the team.
Mentor Senior Engineers and Technical Leads on the effective and responsible use of Generative AI in the development lifecycle.
Contribute to the implementation of AI-powered product features where deep engineering expertise is required.
Stay current with advances in AI coding assistants and LLM-powered developer tooling.
BE/B.Tech degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
12+ years of software engineering experience.
Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale software solutions.
Extensive experience working with distributed systems and cloud-native application development.
Strong experience working within Agile software development environments.
Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions across multiple teams.
Deep expertise in Microsoft .NET technologies including C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.
Strong experience in frontend technologies like ReactJS, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3.
Strong experience designing and building cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure.
Expertise in microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and messaging patterns.
Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure automation.
Strong understanding of application performance, scalability, resiliency, and operational monitoring.
Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-204, AZ-305, AZ-400).
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms.
Experience building SaaS or multi-tenant applications.
Knowledge of AI-assisted software development tools.
Contributions to open-source projects, technical communities, blogs, or conferences.
Strong technical leadership and engineering craftsmanship.
