The CSSD Incharge is responsible for overseeing the sterilization, disinfection, storage, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies across the hospital. The role ensures compliance with infection control protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements while managing the day-to-day operations of the CSSD.
Operational Management
- Supervise all CSSD activities, including cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, packing, storage, and distribution of instruments.
- Ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and supplies to all clinical departments.
- Monitor the functioning of autoclaves, ETO sterilizers, washer disinfectors, and other CSSD equipment.
- Ensure proper segregation and handling of contaminated and sterile items.
Quality & Infection Control
- Ensure compliance with hospital infection control policies and NABH standards.
- Monitor sterilization cycles and maintain biological, chemical, and mechanical indicators records.
- Conduct routine audits and quality checks to ensure effective sterilization processes.
- Coordinate with the Infection Control Team regarding sterilization and infection prevention practices.
Inventory & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization activities, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
- Monitor stock levels of consumables such as sterilization wraps, indicators, and disinfectants.
- Coordinate with the Purchase Department for procurement of CSSD supplies.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of sterilized items.
Team Management
- Supervise and guide CSSD technicians and support staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and allocate responsibilities.
- Conduct training programs for CSSD staff on sterilization procedures and safety protocols.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure adherence to departmental SOPs.
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
- Ensure preventive maintenance and calibration of CSSD equipment.
- Report equipment breakdowns and coordinate with Biomedical Engineering for repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper use of PPE by staff.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in CSSD Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, Nursing, or related healthcare field.
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in CSSD operations.
- Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory/in-charge experience in a hospital setting.
- Experience in NABH-accredited hospitals preferred.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
