Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Senior Draughtsman with strong expertise in furniture engineering, production drawings and detailed drafting. The candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and production-ready drawings for wardrobes, modular kitchens, loose furniture and metal components.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent knowledge of furniture construction, materials, hardware, manufacturing processes and cutting-list preparation, with advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare detailed 2D technical drawings, engineering drawings and production drawings using AutoCAD.
· Develop complete engineering drawings for wardrobes, modular kitchens, storage units and customised furniture.
· Prepare accurate cutting lists, material lists, component details and bill of quantities for production.
· Create detailed drawings showing dimensions, sections, elevations, joinery details, hardware placement and assembly requirements.
· Prepare 2D and 3D drawings for metal work, including frames, structures, brackets, supports and decorative metal components used in loose furniture.
· Develop detailed production drawings for loose furniture, including tables, chairs, consoles, cabinets, beds, side tables and customised furniture pieces.
· Coordinate with designers, project managers, production teams, procurement teams and site teams to ensure drawings are technically feasible.
· Review design concepts and convert them into accurate, practical and production-ready technical drawings.
· Ensure proper integration of woodwork, metalwork, hardware, glass, stone and other materials within furniture drawings.
· Check measurements, tolerances, material thicknesses and construction details before issuing drawings for production.
· Conduct drawing revisions based on design changes, site requirements and production feedback.
· Maintain proper drawing records, revision histories, drawing schedules and project documentation.
· Support the production team in resolving technical or fabrication-related queries.
· Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, quality requirements and project timelines.
· Guide and review the work of junior draughtsmen, where required.
Required Skills and Competencies
· Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.
· Strong knowledge of wardrobe and modular kitchen engineering.
· Expertise in preparing accurate cutting lists and production drawings.
· Good understanding of furniture construction, joinery, hardware and manufacturing processes.
· Experience in creating 2D and 3D metal-work drawings for loose furniture.
· Strong understanding of materials such as plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, solid wood, mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, glass and stone.
· Ability to interpret architectural drawings, interior design drawings and furniture concepts.
· Knowledge of furniture fittings, hinges, channels, drawer systems, wardrobe accessories and kitchen hardware.
· Strong attention to detail, dimensional accuracy and drawing quality.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict drawing deadlines.
· Good coordination, communication and problem-solving skills.
· Practical understanding of factory production and on-site installation requirements.
Qualification and Experience
· Diploma, ITI or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Furniture Design, Drafting or a related discipline.
· Minimum 5 years and maximum 10 years of relevant experience.
· Prior experience with a furniture manufacturing, modular kitchen, interior fit-out, metal fabrication or bespoke furniture company is preferred.
· Candidates must have independently handled detailed furniture engineering and production drawings.
Software Requirements
· AutoCAD – Advanced proficiency mandatory
· Knowledge of SketchUp, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or other 3D drafting software will be an added advantage.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for cutting lists, material calculations and project tracking.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The candidate should be technically strong, detail-oriented and capable of converting creative furniture concepts into accurate engineering and production drawings. The individual must understand how furniture components are manufactured, assembled and installed, and should be comfortable coordinating with both design and production teams.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
